The working area and working period have been revised for reclamation work at Pasir Panjang Terminal and Wharves. The work is now underway until 12 October 2012.
According to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore’s Port Marine Notice No.140 of 2012, the work is being conducted 24 hours daily – including Sundays & Public Holidays – within working area bounded by the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum):

Works include reclamation, dredging, soil investigation, caisson construction, demolition of the de-commissioned Pasir Panjang wharves and removal of submarine cables and pipelines. Dredging works will be carried out by dredgers attended to by tug boats. Safety boats will be deployed in the vicinity of the working area to warn other craft of the project works.
When in the vicinity of the working area, mariners are reminded to: (a) Keep clear and not to enter the working area; (b) Maintain a proper look-out; (c) Proceed at a safe speed and navigate with caution; (d) Maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 25 (Pasir Panjang Control); and (e) Communicate with Pasir Panjang Control on VHF Channel 25 for assistance, if required.

DATE: October 03, 2012 COUNTRY: Singapore PORT: all ports Access to Marina South Pier during Kusu Pilgrimage Season

Every year during the ninth lunar month, tens of thousands of devotees make their way to Marina South Pier to take ferries to Kusu Island for their annual Kusu Pilgrimage. This year’s Kusu Pilgrimage period is from 15 October to 13 November 2012.
In view of the expected congestion and limited parking space at Marina South Pier, the shipping community is encouraged to take public transport and not to drive to Marina South Pier. Please take note of the following:
CONTROLLED ENTRY TO MARINA SOUTH PIER CARPARK (ON WEEKENDS AND PUBLIC HOLIDAYS) There will be controlled entry to Marina South Pier Carpark from 6.00am to 5.00pm on weekends and public holidays during the Kusu Pilgrimage period from 15 Oct to 13 Nov. Only authorized vehicles with parking labels will be allowed to enter and park at Marina South Pier.
During the controlled entry period, motorists could park at Marina Bay Cruise Centre (MBCC) car park and make use of the free shuttle service provided to Marina South Pier.
FREE SHUTTLE SERVICE A free shuttle service will run between the MBCC Car Park and Marina South Pier from 6.00 am to 8.00 pm on weekends and public holidays during the Kusu Pilgrimage period. The frequency of the shuttle service is approximately every 15 minutes…
…AUTHORISED ACCESS Motorists who need to drive to Marina South Pier during the controlled entry period can apply for authorised access to Marina South Pier. MPA will look into such requests on a case-by-case basis. Successful applicants will receive a letter with an enclosed car label, which must be displayed on the vehicle’s wind screen for access to Marina South Pier.

Svitzer, the provider of towage services at the port of Mourilyan, Queensland, has announced that towage charges will increase by 54% with effect from 19 October.
They cite both cost increases and lower volume trends as the main reasons for this significant increase.
