An interactive newsletter on the Oceanology International website recalls the successes of the record breaking 2012 show with its 7, 669 attendees (ABC audited) from more than 70 countries (a 10.9% increase on 2010) and over 525 exhibitors from 33 countries – success which is being continued looking forward to Oceanology International 2014 (ExCeL London, 11-13 March 2014), with sales currently 27% ahead of Oceanology International 2012 at the same time.

“We’re taking a look back at Oceanology International 2012 with a view to look forward to what is already looking like a highly successful event in 2014, ” says Exhibition Director, James Coleman of Reed Exhibitions. “The newsletter gives a great account of 2012 by means of quotes from a variety of exhibitors and supporting organisations, a host of facts and figures, information on business done as a result of the show, and links to videos on both the exhibition and conference. It’s designed to deliver to previous exhibitors and visitors a review of the event but also allow people who are new to the event to get an idea of what it offers and what a great event it continues to be.”

Quotes in the online publication include:

• “OI is an ideal place to network and build relationships with suppliers and clients, associates and industry representatives; and it provides us with a good platform to create awareness and showcase the range of capabilities and expertise that Fugro offers across the global group. The show provides a relaxed and informal environment in which to meet with both existing and potential clients. This year we chalked up a large number of fruitful meetings in a short space of time, obtaining good leads for potential work.” Kobi Ruegg, Director Survey Division – Fugro NV

• Mr Ruegg went on to say: “There are three other great advantages of exhibiting biennially at OI. First it provides an opportunity to gain an overview of market requirements and expectations; secondly, it is a good place to recruit staff – both graduates and experienced staff; and thirdly, it is the ideal place to launch new initiatives to the industry.”

• “Oceanology International 2012 was everything that I expected – we saw who we expected, and were exceptionally busy, particularly on the first day. It is a show that does exactly what we expect it to do.” James Douglas, Sales Manager, Saab Seaeye Ltd

• “Once again OI 2012 demonstrated the pull of a good sized show – the footfall is not reflected anywhere else in the world, and the pull across the industry speaks for itself as the show continues to develop. It is still the single largest event in the energy and marine calendar where we can meet the development people important to us; after all, it is very much devoted to our sector and our clients. As far as ROI goes, it is one of the premier events in our calendar! We certainly did business at the show and are continuing to deal with, and do, business generated there.” Rob Balloch, Strategic Business Development Director, Sonardyne

• “OI 2012 was a great success for us, meeting all of our objectives. These were to promote the forthcoming launch of our products and services; meet with visiting target launch customers, and provide great hospitality on the stand; present and demonstrate the products, the corporate vision, objectives, philosophies and our approaches to product development; and our business overall.” Derek Lynch, Sales & Marketing Director / COO, Positioneering Limited

• “Oceanology International was great for us; it seems to get better each year. I would say it is probably the best show we attend, as it is focused on our core business activities…. “We gained new business too. One of our clients bought a 3050 receiver and needed it the next day, so we let him have the one we were using as a demonstrator at the show. It was the first time we have ever sold anything off the stand!” Luke Davey, AUV Project Manager, C&C Technologies

• “Oceanology International is one of the major events and is specifically targeted towards our customers. Of course most of our competitors are also there. It is where we meet long-term customers and make new contacts.”  Reidun Dalland, Marketing Manager, Aanderaa Data Instruments AS

“Currently over 6, 500 m2 of the available 8, 150 m2 at Oceanology International 2014 has been sold.  And not only has Spill 2014 running alongside Oceanology International 2014 been announced, but Oceanology International China 2013, which is being held in Shanghai, 3-5 September 2013.”
