DATE: January 19, 2013 COUNTRY: India PORT: Mumbai – Revised status of non IG-class approved insurance companies

The Directorate General of Shipping, Mumbai, has evaluated 12 applications for authorisation to grant approval as designated/approved non-IG insurance companies under the provision of Rule 2 (e) of the Merchant Shipping (Regulation of Entry of Ships into POrts, Anchorages and Offshore facilities) Rules 2012.

The present status of approval as on 1 January 2013 is as follows:

(i) QBE Insurance (Europe) represented by British Marine approved for a period of 5 years as Designated Insurer w.e.f. 5 December 2012.

(ii) Amlin Corporate Insurqance N.V. represented by RaetsMarine Insurance B.V. approved for a period of 5 years as Designated Insurer w.e.f. 5 Decmeber 2012.

(iii) Korea Ship Owner Mutual Protection and Indemnity Association approved fro a period of 5 yuears as Designated Insurer w.e.f. 5 December 2012.

(iv) Royal & Sun Alliance (RSA) Insurance with underwriting agency Lodestar Marine Limited approved for a period of 5 years Designated Insurer w.e.f. 8 January 2013.

(v) Korea Shipping Association (KSA Hull-P&I) continuing conditional approval for a period of 3 months as Designated Insurer w.e.f. 5 December 2012.

(vi) British European and Overseas P&I Facility (BE&O) approved for a period of 3 months as Designated Insurer w.e.f. 8 January 2013.

(vii) OSPREY Underwriting Agency Ltd. approved for a period of 3 months as Designated Insurer w.e.f. 8 January 2013.

(viii) Ingosstrakh Insurance Company, Russia, approved for a period of 3 months as Designated Insurer w.e.f. 8 January 2013.

DATE: January 19, 2013 COUNTRY: Singapore PORT: Pasir Panjang – Reclamation works

The working details and work period have been revised for reclamation at Pasir Panjang Terminal and Wharves. The works are now being conducted from 19 January to 18 July 2013.

According to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore’s Port Marine Notice No.07 of 2013 dated 18 January 2013, the works will be carried out 24 hours daily – including Sundays & Public Holidays – within the working area bounded by the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum):

Works will include reclamation, dredging, soil investigation, caisson construction, demolition of  the  de-commissioned Pasir Panjang wharves, and removal of submarine cables, pipelines and construction of container berth.

Dredging works will be carried out by dredgers attended to by tug boats.

Safety boats will be deployed in the vicinity of the working area to warn other craft and vessels of the project works.

When  in the vicinity  of the working area, mariners are reminded to:
(a) keep clear and not to enter the working area;
(b) maintain a proper look-out;
(c) proceed at  a safe speed and navigate with caution;
(d) maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 25 (Pasir Panjang Control);
and
(e) communicate with Pasir Panjang Control on VHF Channel 25 for assistance, if required.
