Vessel grounded during transit

On 0315 hours today (13 October) a 194, 000 DWT Panama-flagged bulk carrier
ran aground at KM 126 in the Suez Canal due to engine failure, blocking
traffic in the northbound convoy.

The following two ships (bulk carriers of 58, 500 and 31, 600 DWT,
respectively) were also  grounded due to the sudden engine failure of the
ship ahead.

Accordingly, the Suez Canal Authority cancelled  today’s northbound convoy
until the grounded ships were floated.

The Suez Canal waterway is now clear and ships in the southbound convoy
have resumed transit.

As a result, there is a possible of some delays or congestion affecting
Canal traffic tomorrow (14 October) only.
