Fugro innovations to be recognised at the 2014 Arctic Technology ConferenceArctic Shipping, Awards, Conferences, Seminars, Forums, Marine Equipment Products and Services, Technology — By admin on February 5, 2014 at 10:00 PM
The company is being recognized for its integrated 3D iceberg mapping technique, which defines complex iceberg properties using high precision subsea imaging systems and above-water imaging techniques. The approach and technology will be integral to future ice engineering, as well as ongoing ice management and risk mitigation measures for fixed and mobile platforms in Arctic settings. The other award is for Fugro’s GeoSAR sea ice mapping system which is mounted on a Gulfstream II jet aircraft. Acquiring sea ice data over very large areas, the system produces sea ice mapping deliverables enabling the mitigation of high risk ice floes from fixed locations in the Arctic.
“These awards are a great achievement and honor,” said Edward Saade, Fugro’s regional survey director for the Americas. “Fugro is committed to supporting safe and sustainable Arctic oil and gas operations. The technologies being highlighted by ATC reinforce that commitment, and our ability to generate positive outcomes during offshore exploration, development, and production.”
The Spotlight Awards will be presented at ATC on Monday, February 10, during an evening reception at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas.
Additional activities for Fugro at ATC include participation in the “Arctic Past Projects” panel discussion on Tuesday, February 11, and a technical presentation entitled, “Precise GNSS Positioning in the Arctic Regions,” on Wednesday, February 12. Fugro staff will also be present at booth 317 in the exhibit hall throughout the conference to promote the company’s full range of geotechnical, survey, and subsea services.
Fugro creates value by acquiring and interpreting Earth and engineering data and by supporting its clients with the design, construction, installation, repair and maintenance of their infrastructure. Fugro works predominantly in energy and infrastructure markets offshore and onshore, employing approximately 12,500 employees in over sixty countries. In 2012 Fugro’s revenues amounted to € 2.2 billion, it is listed on NYSE Euronext Amsterdam and is included in the AEX-Index.
