ESPO Conference 2014: more than just a port conference!

espo conf 11In only one week time, the European port community will gather in Gothenburg for the 11th edition of the ESPO Annual Conference.

The programme is now final and a full line up of the speakers is available on the ESPO Conference website. Here is how the scene is set:

Under the overall theme “level playing field between ports, a must or a myth”, the conference aims at giving some more substance to this concept by looking how ports compete at different levels, which factors determine competition, which factors can undermine fair competition. The conference also wants to assess how the competitiveness of a port can be challenged by different elements on which they have no leverage and to investigate on the contrary how ports can play a role in keeping industry in Europe. In a final debate both ports and European policy makers will discuss the role of policy in enhancing the level playing field and will hopefully answer the basic question of this conference: a level playing field between ports: is it a must or a reality?

But ESPO’s annual conference is more than just a conference, it is the ideal networking event for the European port community. To enhance the networking, the latest list of participants has been uploaded to the Conference website. Do you want to set up a meeting with one of the participants, send an email to the secretariat: We will make the necessary arrangements. A special “meet and greet” area will be foreseen at the conference.

For those who have planned to go to the conference, and have not registered yet on our conference website, please do not challenge the organisational talent of our conference team too much and register asap!

Looking forward to welcoming you in Gothenburg!
