Our forty-fifth weekly recapitulation of the markets and world geopolitics affecting same, tonight Friday the 21st  of November 2014 with John Faraclas of AllAboutShipping in Athens, re-confirms once again our last week’s title: “The Shipping Markets:…presume we are right again… as they fail and fall”.

Our prognosis continues to be verbatim more than 100 centum correct! Any objections?

We maintain the view that there will be many upheavals in the industry with bad shipping portfolios, shipping scams and many bankruptcies of all kinds; of nations too…  Be prepared. Very very few will make it and stay in the black. We have warned you numerous times on this coming new crisis which is also being affected by many more factors. The excellent presentation last Monday the 17th of November by Peter Stokes of Lazards, at the IMIF event,  sends warning shocks!

The Geopolitics and new world order in business too, will continue to affect the markets to the worse for the foreseeable unless we see law and order in all the world’s parliaments.

We repeat: “The politicians and the business hooligans will continue to distort the markets to the worse extent and I guess, if we believe in neo-liberalism and a really free transparent economy, we must revolt here and now – peacefully of course, before it’s too late, and get rid of all these crook morons.”  The electorate all over the world must make up their mind: Either they vote for the aristos in each sector of daily life or pay the high cost of messy politics…

The BDI closed down eight points since yesterday Thursday the 20th of November at 1, 324 points which is on the other hand is a plus 63 points since last week’s 1, 256…

This is 1, 123 points down since last Decembers 2, 247 points – long way to go with a month more or less save the holiday…

  • The BCI closed down 92 points since yesterday at 3, 088 points which is a plus of 157 points since last week’s 2, 931 points…
  • The BPI was up two points at 1, 055 which on the other hand is 34 points down since last week’s 1, 089 points…caution???
  • The BSI was up 16 points at 942 which is also a plus of 67 points since last week’s  875 points.-
  • The BHSI was up five points since yesterday at 462 but also another 12 points plus since last week’s 450.

The wets on the other hand continued to be “different”:

  • The dirties and its respective index,  the BDTI was up 9  points since the last closing/reporting, reaching the 973 points, which is 108 points up since last week’s 865 points!
  • The cleans with their respective BCTI closed up 18 points since the last closing at 752 which is also 18 points up since last week’s  735, not bad… and it has been said we go for a bad winter…

On the World stage now:

  • The Ebola saga becomes they prey of warring factions in West Africa and beyond; be careful there
  • Ukraine: A bankrupt Ukraine becomes the pray of all; still a long way to go….
  • The Middle East: Will see the worse soon given also Turkey’s behaviour in the area…
  • Libya: The country is in a civil war now; be on guard for the outcome…
  • Europe: The German economy approached the critical point. Let’s see Mrs. Merkel’s team how they will react…
  • Greece continues to be a headache. All politicians, all three hundred MPs must go home; Time please. We had enough, otherwise no one should blame “others” for what is yet to come…
  • The UK and the UKIP’s success becomes a major headache…
  • In the Far East now: China slides to recession, Japan’s Abenomics will produce a few hiccups too…

The Cadwallader’s event by the London Shipping Law Centre is coming up on the 25th of November; hope you managed to get a seat; otherwise disappointment rules the evening…

The 14th Navigator conference in Athens yesterday was a great success; will revert with a full coverage…

The Beaujolais night last night at Trinity House in London was a nice break from all the problems the world produces: Cheers!

The twenty-second tip for your extended summer holidays, thanks to climate change, is the island of Man; a great place to be particularly if you like sailing and want to be different!

Enjoy the weekend. You can log on here below to watch the live video:
