Port Everglades joins NAMEPA to “Save our Seas”

August 21, 2015 – Carleen Lyden-Kluss, Co-Founder and Executive Director of North American Marine Environment Protection Association (NAMEPA) announced today that Port Everglades has joined NAMEPA as a new member. NAMEPA welcomes Port Everglades as the efforts to “Save Our Seas” continues to expand.

“Port Everglades is one of the fastest growing seaports in the nation. The growth plan focuses on advances in technology and infrastructure to improve efficiency, capacity and sustainability. NAMEPA is working more closely with ports throughout North America to further the discussion on sound environmental practices. Port Everglades shows their interest by joining NAMEPA”, stated NAMEPA’s Carleen Lyden-Kluss. “As the membership growth and diversity across the industry continues, NAMEPA’s reach in collaborating on new strategies to protect the marine environment expands. Our organizations are committed to the stewardship and protection of our seas through corporate social responsibility and public education in the communities about protecting this important global resource.”

Ms. Lyden-Kluss remarked, “NAMEPA welcomes Port Everglades as a new member, a highly respected organization dedicated to the highest level of corporate responsibility. The continued efforts by NAMEPA and its members to promote shared goals about marine environment protection and safety at sea and in ports through education and collaboration on global and local levels will bring to fruition the increased awareness of protecting our marine environment and putting action into our daily lives to “Save Our Seas”.

NAMEPA is a non-profit organization committed to preserving the marine environment through educating seafarers, students and the public about the need and strategies for protecting global ocean resources.
