J N FARACLAS 2015 OKOur thirty-sixth weekly recapitulation of the shipping markets, their respective main indices and world geopolitics affecting same in 2015 and beyond, tonight Friday the 4thof September 2015, with John Faraclas of AllAboutShipping in Tienen, Belgium.

  • The BDI, the Baltic Dry Index, closed down 16points since yesterday Thursday the 3rd of September at 875 points which is 28 points down since last week’s 903 points; so the 900 barrier is broken downwards as we expected and stressed in our last three reports. CAUTION!
  • The BCI 2014 was eight points down at 1, 187 points which is 116 points up since last week’s 1, 071 points. Caution here too as volatility greatly affects this size!
  • The BPI was 33 points down at 837 points and also 137 points down since last week’s 974 points…
  • The BSI was 12 points down  since yesterday at 870  points which is 55 points down since last week’s 925 points…and,
  • The BHSI was up two points at 485 points which is an overall of five points up since last week’s 480 points… Unsustainability continues on all dry indices…
  • The wets now: the Dirties and its BDTI index were 12 points up at 628 points which is 35 points up since last week’s 593 points…
  • The Cleans though and its respective BCTI was down two points at 584 points  which is nine  points down since last week’s 593 points.
  • The price of oil …recovered in comparison with last week’s levels  and  now stands at region US$ 45 …

The Geopolitics front continues far worse and blur…:

  • The Migrants drama is the number one issue worldwide and the repercussions within the next fifty years will be just terrible!  Greece and Italy are the number one victims after the migrants themselves. Europe too will be in a mess. Turkey must be punished for allowing all this and just now (over the last ten days “trying” to abide by the rules…) The humane life lost particularly of infants and children is beyond thoughts… Shame to all politicians, particularly in Europe for the way they handle the situation. No political will! Why???? Are we going to see any short of naval blockades??? (yes you read correct: blockades in plural)
  • The Greek drama continues.  For whom the bells tool?  The forthcoming election result will be a surprise! Having said that, we need to see the Greek people punishing the rotten establishment’s deeds!   Add the lefty loony’s latest mess – lies and promises…. and see what you get and what it must be done!
  • In Ukraine, the war goes on…as usual
  • As per our last week’s advice:  The China blues continue…. Caution…
  • The Islamic State’s destruction of Archaeological sites in Syria and other places (Iraq, Libya etc.) must be countered from the real free world. Enough! Action now Mr. Obama.
  • The London International Shipping week begins this coming Monday the 7th of September.  Be there not to miss this unique event!
  • The Onassis Awards too will take place this coming week in London.
  • The Athens Exchange London Road show also this week. A great time to rebuilt and resurrect Greece. The Athens Stock Exchange is THE means to do this!
  • The Poseidon event with LR, amongst others, fully supporting same takes place in Cyprus soon (check relevant coverage in the site).
  • The WISTA international event is coming up in the beginning of October in Istanbul! Hope to be a very special event!
  • The Maritime Cyprus event also this October is coming up, be there too!
  • We continue to invite the world visiting Greece and its Islands; that will counter as a plus to the troubles Greece and its people are going through. The Turkish Government by allowing the traffickers to move the migrants to  the Greek Islands not only spoil Greece’s tourism but will eventually create the worst explosion in the East Med… Otherwise, do try Brussels – Europe’s capital and the entire Belgium, particularly this time of the year. The weather is still good!
