Kusu Pilgrimage Season

The 2015 Kusu Pilgrimage season will commence on 13 October 2015 and end on 11 November 2015.During this period, many ferries and harbour craft carrying passengers would cross the East Keppel Fairway when plying between the MSPand Kusu Island (Pulau Tembakul). Mariners shall keep a proper lookout for these craft and navigate with extra caution when in the vicinity of the recommended routes.

The traffic movement within MSP has been divided in two routes. The ferries and bumboats shall use the recommended routes as indicated.

Masters of harbour craft shall proceed at a safe speed and navigate with caution when approaching MSP and Kusu Island jetties.

The following buoys will be laid on 6 October 2015 and will be removed on 12 November 2015:

All harbour craft, except ferries operated by Singapore Island Cruise and Ferries Pte Ltd, plying to and from Kusu Island (Pulau Tembakul) shall:
a. keep within the channel demarcated by the Kusu Beacon (Fl R 2.5s) and the yellow polyethylene channel buoy in position Lat 01 deg. 13′.526N / Long 103 deg. 51′.427E when approaching and leaving Kusu Jetty;
b. only use the harbour craft jetty at Kusu Island (Pulau Tembakul) for the purpose of embarking and disembarking passengers. This harbour craft jetty is located about 65 metres northwest of the Main Passenger jetty. All these harbour craft must not proceed beyond 10 metres southeast of their allocated jetty. To avoid traffic congestion in the vicinity, no harbour craft shall wait at the entrance of the channel or at the jetty.

The two yellow polyethylene mooring buoys located off Pulau Sakijang Pelepah, are meant for harbour craft to moor temporarily while awaiting passengers.

Jetty construction & deployment of Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler

From 12 October 2015 to 31 January 2016, jetty construction work and the deployment of an Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) will be conducted at Tanah Merah staging ground.According to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore Port Marine Notice No.115 of 2015, the work will be conducted 24 hours daily – including Sundays and Public Holidays – within the working area at the following coordinates (WGS 84 Datum):

Craft involved in the works will exhibit the appropriate local and international day and night signals.

When in the vicinity of the working area, mariners are reminded to:
a) Keep well clear of the borehole points;
b) Maintain a proper lookout;
c) Proceed at a safe speed and navigate with caution;
d) Maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 12 (East Control);
and
e) Communicate with East Control on VHF Channel 12 for assistance, if required.

Improvement works at Siglap Canal

The working period for the improvement works at Siglap Canal has been extended. The work will now be conducted from 14 October to 31 December.According to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore Port Marine Notice No.110 of 2015, the works will be conducted 24 hours daily – including Sundays and Public Holidays – at the mouth of Siglap Canal, within the working area bounded by the following coordinates (WGS 84 Datum):

70th Anniversary of Indonesian Arm Forces

Tomorrow (1 October), and on Friday and Saturday (2-3 October), between the hours of 0800 and 1200 local time, the final exercise will be carried out for celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the Indonesian Armed Forces in Merak waters, Cilegon.The actual celebration, which will include a demonstration and manoeure activities, will be conducted between 060 and 1220 on Monday, 5 October.

Vessel movements (berthing/unberthing) in the Merak area can only start after the exercise completed and all access will be closed from shore side to sea from 3 to 5 October 2015.

The construction of Changi East Finger extension will involve sand filling, installation of prefabricated vertical drain, vibro-flotation, stone revetment, scouring protection, construction and removal of instrumentation clusters, as well as the installation and subsequent removal of silt barricades. The works will be carried out by the work barges.

Safety boats will be deployed to warn other craft in the vicinity of on-going work.

Craft involved in the works will exhibit the appropriate local and international day and night signals.

When in the vicinity of the working area, mariners are reminded to:

a) Keep well clear and not to enter the working area;
b) Maintain a proper lookout;
c) Proceed at a safe speed and navigate with caution;
d) Maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 21 (Sembawang Control);
and
e) Communicate with Sembawang Control on VHF Channel 21 for assistance, if required.

Reclamation work will involve dredging, construction of revetment, soil investigation and soil improvement work.

Soil improvement work will entail stabilized dredging, sand piling and deep cement mixing. The dredgers will be used for the bund construction within the working area.

Safety boat will be in attendance at all times to warn and re-direct craft in the vicinity to keep clear of working area.

Craft involved in the works will exhibit the appropriate local and international day and night signals.

When in the vicinity of the working area, mariners are reminded to:

a) Keep well clear and not to enter the working area;
b) Maintain a proper lookout;
c) Proceed at a safe speed and navigate with caution;

and
