According to preliminary results of the survey conducted by HELMEPA in each region concerning environmental awareness, students consider litter on streets and beaches and the noise, mainly due to motorcycles, as the most serious problems on the island.

It is encouraging that students appear to be particularly conscious on environmental problems and the majority of them take part in some recycling program, while the Municipality of Aegina expressed its intention for continued cooperation with HELMEPA and related stakeholders aiming at enhancing recycling in schools.
