The Port Authority of New South Wales will increase prices applicable to all vessels in the ports of Sydney Harbour, Port Botany, Port Kembla, Eden and Yamba effective from 1 January 2016.During the last few months, Port Authority has been conducting a price review of its main statutory port charges following the successful amalgamation on 1 July 2014 of the residual State owned components of the three main ports: Sydney, Newcastle and Port Kembla. Until then, each port had adopted its own pricing strategy.The Port Authority therefore intends to implement a 4.71% increase to all statutory and miscellaneous charges in the ports of Sydney Harbour, Port Botany, Port Kembla, Eden and Yamba, excluding Wharfage and the Passenger Based Site Occupation Charge in Sydney Harbour from 1 January 2016.For information about operations in Australia contact GAC Australia at shipping.australia@gac.com

Mooring/unmooring off eastern part of Tuas View Extension

Until 20 January 2016, bulk carriers, self-propelled barges and pusher tugs with barges in composite unit carrying bulk sand will be transiting the Temasek Fairway to the Tuas Terminal Phase 1 Finger 2 reclamation project area.Masters of vessels and harbour craft shall keep a proper lookout for these vessels, proceed at a safe speed and navigate with extra caution when in the vicinity of the mooring buoys off eastern part of Tuas View Extension.Mooring buoys, which are ‘DDJV-MB-1’, ‘DDJV-MB-2’, ‘DDJV-MB-3’ and ‘DDJV-MB-4’ and with a total of two mooring slots between them had been laid for use by the bulk carriers.The positions of the mooring buoys are as follows (WGS 84 Datum):
DDJV-MB-1) 01 deg. 14.456’N / 103 deg. 37.959’E  (Fl. 4(Y) 15s)
DDJV-MB-2) 01 deg. 14.457’N / 103 deg. 38.131’E  (Fl. 4(Y) 15s)
DDJV-MB-3) 01 deg. 15.290’N / 103 deg. 38.471’E  (Fl. 5(Y) 20s)
DDJV-MB-4) 01 deg. 15.290’N / 103 deg. 38.643’E  (Fl. 5(Y) 20s)

The mooring and unmooring of vessels will be carried out one at a time during daylight hours between 0700hrs to 1800hrs. The mooring buoys will be removed upon completion of the reclamation.

Construction of pier west of Tuas View Extension

The working period for the construction of a pier west of Tuas View Extension, Johor Strait, has been extended.According to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore Port Marine Notice No.136 of 2015 dated 3 November 2015, the work is now being conducted between 0700 and 1900 hours daily – including Sundays and Public Holidays -until 2 May 2016, within the working area bounded by the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum):
A) 01 deg. 15.629’N / 103 deg. 36.560’E
B) 01 deg. 15.389’N / 103 deg. 36.560’E
C) 01 deg. 15.389’N / 103 deg. 36.585’E
D) 01 deg. 15.258’N / 103 deg. 36.585’E
E) 01 deg. 15.258’N / 103 deg. 36.316’E
F) 01 deg. 15.629’N / 103 deg. 36.316’EThe construction of pier involves piling work, form work and concreting work. The piling barge assisted by tug boats will be used for piling work.Craft involved in the works will exhibit the appropriate local and international day and night signals.

When in the vicinity of the working area, mariners are reminded to:
a) Keep well clear and not to enter the working area;
b) Maintain a proper lookout;
c) Proceed at a safe speed and navigate with caution;
d) Maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 22 (Jurong Control);
and
e) Communicate with Jurong Control on VHF Channel 22 for assistance, if required.

Laying of submarine cable

From 5 November 2015 to 15 March 2016, submarine cable laying work will be carried our west of Tuas View Extension, Johor Strait.According to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore Port Marine Notice No.138 of 2015, the works will be conducted between 0700 and 1800 hours daily – including Sundays and Public Holidays – along the line joining the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum):
1) 01 deg. 17.158’N / 103 deg. 36.957’E
2) 01 deg. 16.597’N / 103 deg. 36.351’E
3) 01 deg. 15.776’N / 103 deg. 36.134’E
4) 01 deg. 14.888’N / 103 deg. 36.068’E
5) 01 deg. 13.392’N / 103 deg. 35.931’E
6) 01 deg. 10.969’N / 103 deg. 35.703’E
7) 01 deg. 10.869’N / 103 deg. 35.648’EThe work will involve the laying of submarine cables. The safety zone is a circular area of 50m radius centred at the barge. Divers will be deployed for the work.Craft involved in the works will exhibit the appropriate local and international day signals.
