The Baltic ExchangeStranded Dry Markets; at 471 the BDI needs a lift-off… otherwise many will face the music

What can you say now as for a second day the Baltic Dry Index (BDi) remained stranded at 471 points – same as yesterday!

The BCI further down 25 points at 524 despite some activity in the sector; the BPI was up six points at 421, the BSI same as yesterday at 448 and the BHSI down one at 274.

The Wets were plus one point each, with the BDTI at 898 and the BCTI at 565 respectively. With the WTI below US$ 35 things can be sour for the wets too. An unusual warm December, all over the northern hemisphere makes it even worse.

Will the conflict in the Middle East change the shipping spectrum; some argue though whether it will be for the worse or for the best…

Be on guard!
