Demolition of temporary piers
Tuesday, February 2, 2016, Hong Kong
For approximately 5 months, marine works involving demolition of temporary piers will be carried out [at Peng Chau and Sunshine Island] within the following areas:WORKS AREA 1:
This area is bounded by straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum) from (A) to (D) and the adjacent shoreline:
(A) 22 deg. 16.860’N / 114 deg. 02.702’E
(B) 22 deg. 16.830’N / 114 deg. 02.716’E
(C) 22 deg. 16.816’N / 114 deg. 02.682’E
(D) 22 deg. 16.821’N / 114 deg. 02.680’E

WORKS AREA 2:
This area is bounded by straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum) from (E) to (H) and the adjacent shoreline:
(E) 22 deg. 15.845’N / 114 deg. 03.065’E
(F) 22 deg. 15.873’N / 114 deg. 03.055’E
(G) 22 deg. 15.881’N / 114 deg. 03.091’E
(H) 22 deg. 15.850’N / 114 deg. 03.100’E

Several sections of silt curtains, extending from the sea surface to the seabed, will be established within each works area. The silt curtain is a large piece of netting used to contain mud and sediments. Yellow markers buoys fitted with yellow flashing lights will be laid to mark the extent of the silt curtains.

The works will be carried out by one derrick lighter. One tug and one work boat will provide assistance.

A working area of approximately 50 metres will be established around the lighter. Yellow marker buoys fitted with yellow flashing lights will be laid to mark the positions of the anchors extending from the lighter.

The hours of work will be from 0700 to 1900 hours. No works will be carried out on Sundays and public holidays. Vessels employed for the works will not stay in the works areas outside the hours of work.

Vessels engaged in the operations will display signals as prescribed in international and local regulations.

Vessels navigating in the vicinity should proceed with caution.

Magnetometer Survey

For approximately two weeks, a magnetometer survey will be carried out [off Hung Hom Finger Pier] within the area bounded by straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum) from (A) to (E):
(A) 22 deg. 17.863’N / 114 deg. 10.915’E
(B) 22 deg. 17.834’N / 114 deg. 10.934’E
(C) 22 deg. 17.536’N / 114 deg. 10.999’E
(D) 22 deg. 17.519’N / 114 deg. 10.967’E
(E) 22 deg. 17.858’N / 114 deg. 10.891’EThe works will be carried out by one survey vessel.

The survey works will be carried out by the survey vessel travelling at about 3 knots and towing a side scan sensor approximately 5 metres astern of the vessel.

The hours of work will be from 0800 to 1800 hours. No works will be carried out on Sundays and public holidays.

Vessels engaged in the operations will display signals as prescribed in international and local regulations.

Vessels navigating in the vicinity should proceed with caution.

Waterway closure for bridge works
