Temporary Wind Monitoring Station

A temporary wind monitoring station which has been established southwest of Lamma Island for collecting wind data will continue to operate for a period of approximately one year.The station is a large offshore platform. The particulars of the station and its aids to navigation are as follows:THE STATION 
Position (WGS 84 Datum): 22 deg. 09.197’N / 114 deg. 05.973’E
Elevation of the main platform: 11 metres above mean sea level
Supporting Trunk: Yellow
Meteorological Mast: Orange and white stripesAIDS TO NAVIGATION OF THE STATION 
Light: Mo (U) 15s 13M
Foghorn: Mo (U) 15s
Radar Reflector: FittedVessels navigating in the vicinity should proceed with caution and give a wide berth.

Crude oil tanker grounded
Wednesday, May 11, 2016, Suez Canal, Egypt
An oil tanker ran aground at 159 km of the Suez Canal at about 0850 hours local time this morning (11 May). The grounded vessel was refloated at 1205 hours local time and was towed by Suez Canal tugs to Suez outer anchorage.As per information from the Suez Canal Authority, the 163, 038 DWT tanker was transiting the Canal as the last ship in the Northbound convoy.For information about operations in the Suez Canal, contact GAC Egypt at suezcanal@gac.com
