Cyprus-based MSC Shipmanagement has chosen RINA’s InfoSHIP Energy Governance (EGO) software for the performance management of its fleet.

MSC has invested in a range of retrofit solutions to reduce the energy consumption and air emissions of its fleet totalling more than 160 containerships. After trialling InfoSHIP EGO on one vessel it is now being “rolled-out” to eighty-one vessels and subsequently, the entire fleet.

Paolo Moretti, General Manager RINA Marine, says “InfoSHIP EGO is a powerful tool for collecting and analysing ship performance. InfoSHIP EGO unlocks all the potential of big data to allow the management of retrofit actions based on real payback evaluation and to ensure compliance with emission recording requirements.”

Prabhat Jha, MSC Shipmanagement Limited Group Managing Director, says, “MSC is fully committed to improving our environmental performance, so we are always looking for appropriate solutions that will enable us to achieve this objective. InfoSHIP EGO has shown itself to be a reliable and powerful tool in the collection and management of fleet performance data. With this tool we believe we that will be able to measure the real savings and payback time for our CO2 emission reduction investments, and to comply with MRV requirements.”

InfoSHIP EGO is part of the ship management software suite developed by RINA and IB Software & Consulting.  InfoSHIP EGO has a number of modules which collect data on-board the ship automatically from navigation and machinery automation systems. The data can then be analysed for trim optimization, propulsion efficiency, voyage and fuel management, overall energy management and decision management. As the software can be customized to the particular operator’s needs it can easily be set-up to provide all the data needed to meet the requirements of the EU Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) scheme.
