Port commissions approach dam at berth No.2 |
Wednesday, October 26, 2016, Kozmino, Russia |
The approach dam revamping accompanied by dredging work allows the reception of tankers with the deadweight of up to 150,000 tonnes at berth No. 2 of Kozmino oil port. The top priority task in the approach dam revamping project was raising of a tubular wall from a pipe with the diameter of 1,400 mm on the water area bed. The total length of the wall is 182 m. Kozmino oil port carried out dredging work in the water area of the second berth concurrently with Rosmorport. This was followed by the bottom reinforcement on the side of the water area and bank protection work. The bed slopes were reinforced with rock, and the bank was reinforced with large-size stones along with 1,250 hexabits (complex geometry construction elements used in land retention hydraulic engineering structures).Underwater engineering operations involved divers and water crafts, including a dredger with the shovel volume of 17.5 m3, a backhoe dredger with the shovel volume of 3 m3, 2 floating cranes with the lifting capacity of 100 tonnes, 2 barges, a floating pile driver, along with small vessels, barges, tugboats, and motor boats delivering the cargo and servicing large-size machines and personnel. In spite of round-the-clock operations, they did not interfere with the tanker loading schedule.
Berth No. 1 of Kozmino oil port was put into operation on 28 December 2009. In November 2012, after the construction of essential facilities at berth No. 2 and dredging work, the oil port began the simultaneous reception of two tankers: the first one with the deadweight of 80 to 150 thou. tonnes, at berth No. 1, and the second one with the deadweight of 80 to 120 thou. tonnes, at berth No. 2. The approach dam revamping with dredging work in the water area at berth No. 2 allows the reception of oil vessels with the deadweight of up to 150 thou. tonnes at both berths. Transneft – Kozmino Port consistently maintains a high level of reliability, sustainability, and safety of facilities under construction and revamping. At each stage, the company verifies the compliance of construction and installation operations with the requirements of standard technical and engineering documentation as well as technical regulations.
