OMA Group is delighted to confirm the appointment of Neale Proctor as OMA Group Sales & Commercial Director, with immediate effect.

Neale has extensive experience of the shipping & logistics business in West Africa, and of working with OMA; most recently as a consultant providing support to the Group and before that in his role running the GAC Nigeria & Ghana companies and setting up partner agreements for GAC along the West African Coast.

Gary Miller, OMA Group MD commented:

“We are delighted that Neale has agreed to join us full time, his wealth of experience and knowledge will be invaluable.  Neale has already been directly responsible for the establishment of agreements in Senegal (where OMA now have their own office) and Cameroon (where sub-agent Gespros represent OMA’s business in the country.). Neale’s initial focus will be on the further development of our general agency business along the West African coast, but he’ll also be working with the other directors across all the OMA business units.”

Neale Proctor

A graduate of Liverpool John Moores University, Neale Proctor has over 35 years’ experience in the shipping industry.

Neale started his career as a seagoing Deck Officer for ten years, serving on tankers and anchor handling tug supply vessels. After a period working ashore at the Newcastle P&I association, handling a variety of incidents and claims, he joined a leading global shipping, logistics & marine services company, Mobil Shipping Co. Ltd, based in Dubai, where he established and managed a regional network of P&I Correspondents across the Middle East.

After 11 years in Dubai, Neale moved to Indonesia, and took on the Country Manager role at GAC, handling a wide variety of vessel types at ports & terminals across the archipelago. The development of a successful cruise agency business was a welcome addition to the portfolio of services offered to customers.

Just over 25 years since his first visit to the region, Neale returned to West Africa with GAC to take on the Country Manager role at a very active shipping, logistics, marine and manning services operation based at a waterfront location in the Apapa area of Lagos. It was during his time in Lagos that Neale was first introduced to the OMA West Africa Group.

A move along the coast to Accra, Ghana, followed four years later, where Neale was responsible for setting up a new country representative office and the development of a network of partner and sub agent arrangements from Mauritania in the north to Gabon in the south.

Most recently, Neale was based in Central Asia managing a marine services operation in the Turkmenistan sector of the Caspian Sea. A fleet of 19 offshore support vessels and a barge were managed from a dedicated marine & logistics base at the port of Turkmenbashy.
