photoA new kids-friendly website created by the International Maritime Organization(IMO) is now online and can be visited at http://kids.imo.org

The website includes a special animation on the work of IMO towards protecting the marine environment and the atmosphere, as well as information on issues such as waste pollution, clean oceans, invasive species, particularly sensitive sea areas and protecting marine life from noise pollution.

This is another initiative in the framework of IMO’s work on the topic of Environmental Awareness in Youth, which was launched in cooperation with HELMEPA in the late 90s by former ΙΜΟ Secretary Generals W. O’ Neil and E. Mitropoulos and continued ever since together with other Marine Environment Protection Associations-MEPAs. The latter feature in IMO’s new website section titled “Initiatives for Kids Around the World”.
