REINSTATEMENT OF LIGHT BUOY WEST OF AIRPORT

Temporary Diversion of the Tung Chung Buoyed Channel
Friday, June 23, 2017, Hong Kong
From 25 June 2017 until 7 August 2017, a section of the buoyed channel between the pairs of buoys TC1 and TC2; TC5 and TC6 will be temporarily diverted eastwards during the following specified periods:

(1)    Sunday: from 2000 to 2400 hours

(2)    Monday: from 0000 to 0730 hours and from 2000 to 2400 hours

(3)    Tuesday: from 0000 to 0730 hours

The diverted channel is bounded by straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum), with the name of temporary light marks shown in the right column:
(A) 22 deg. 18.899’N / 113 deg. 57.854’E (DTC 1)
(B) 22 deg. 18.854’N / 113 deg. 57.971’E (DTC 2)
(C) 22 deg. 18.460’N / 113 deg. 57.776’E (DTC 4)
(D) 22 deg. 18.258’N / 113 deg. 57.331’E
(E) 22 deg. 18.367’N / 113 deg. 57.283’E
(F) 22 deg. 18.496’N / 113º 57.716’E (DTC 3)

Details of the temporary light marks marking the diverted channel are as follows:

I) Lateral light buoys:

Position (WGS 84 Datum): 22 deg. 18.899’N / 113 deg. 57.854’E
Shape: Pillar
Colour: Green
Light Characteristics: Q. G
Top Mark: Single Green Cone

Name: DTC2
Position (WGS 84 Datum): 22 deg. 18.854’N / 113 deg. 57.971’E
Shape: Pillar
Colour: Red
Light Characteristics: Q. R
Top Mark: Single Red Can

II) Lights fixed on piers:

Name: DTC3
Position (WGS 84 Datum): 22 deg. 18.496’N / 113 deg. 57.716’E
Light Characteristics: VQ. G

Name: DTC4
Position (WGS 84 Datum): 22 deg. 18.460’N / 113 deg. 57.776’E
Light Characteristics: VQ. R

The minimum width and depth of the diverted channel are about 100 metres and 2.5 metres (Chart Datum) respectively. The diverted channel permits vessels with airdraft of not exceeding 18.8 metres to pass through….

….Guard boats will be stationed at the turning points of the diverted channel to give necessary guidance to the vessels using this channel. Vessels navigating in the vicinity should proceed with caution and follow the guidance given by the guard boats on scene.

Reinstatement of light buoy west of airport

The light buoy “Weather 1” which was temporarily relocated on 6 February 2017 has been reinstated in its charted position (WGS 84 Datum) at the west of the Hong Kong International Airport as follows: 22 deg. 18.291’N / 113 deg. 52.753’E.
