For approximately 18 months, marine works involving bridge reconstruction works and box culvert rectification works will be carried out within the area bounded by straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum) from (A) to (G) and the adjacent shoreline:
(A) 22 deg. 17.283’N / 114 deg. 11.331’E
(B) 22 deg. 17.295’N / 114 deg. 11.316’E
(C) 22 deg. 17.409’N / 114 deg. 11.426’E
(D) 22 deg. 17.491’N / 114 deg. 11.519’E
(E) 22 deg. 17.584’N / 114 deg. 11.649’E
(F) 22 deg. 17.626’N / 114 deg. 11.765’E
(G) 22 deg. 17.565’N / 114 deg. 11.782’E

The works will be carried out by a flotilla of vessels including five dumb lighters, one flat top barge and one work boat. The number of vessels engaged in the works will change from time to time to suit operational requirements.

A working area of approximately 30 metres around each lighter and barge will be established. Yellow marker buoys fitted with yellow flashing lights will be laid to mark the positions of the anchors extending from the lighters and barge.

The hours of work will be from 0700 to 1900 hours. No works will be carried out on Sundays and public holidays. Vessels employed for the works will stay in the works area outside the hours of work.

Vessels engaged in the operations will display signals as prescribed in international and local regulations.

Vessels navigating in the vicinity should proceed with caution.

Safety zone established for fireworks display

The U.S. Coast Guard Captain of the Port New Orleans has established a safety zone on the Lower Mississippi River, Above Head of Passes, from MM 228.8 to MM 230, extending the entire width of the river in the vicinity of downtown Baton Rouge, LA.

This safety zone is needed to protect persons and vessels from the potential safety hazards associated with a fireworks display.

This safety zone is effective from 8:30pm until 10:00pm local time tomorrow (July 4).

All vessels are prohibited from entering this safety zone unless they have been granted permission by the Captain of the Port New Orleans or designated representative. Only vessels participating in the fireworks display and pre-designated vessels are permitted within the safety zone after 8:30pm.

All vessels requesting permission to enter or transit through this safety zone are required to contact the Coast Guard. A Coast Guard vessel will

be on scene for the duration of the event and can be contacted on VHF

Waterway status for fireworks displays

The U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) Captain of the Port New Orleans has established multiple safety zones within the Captain of the Port New Orleans area of responsibility. These safety zones are needed to protect persons and vessels from the potential safety hazards associated with waterborne activities and fireworks displays.

Below is a list of dates and times established safety zones will be enforced.

St. John the Baptist Parish July 4th Celebration Fireworks
a. Date and time: July 3, 2017 from 8:40 p.m. until 9:40 p.m.
b. Location: Lower Mississippi River Mile Marker (MM) 137.5 to MM 138.5 above Head of  Passes (AHP), Reserve, LA
c. Designated representative: Port of South Louisiana, VHF-FM Channels 16 or 67, or phone (985) 536-1118

Go 4th on the River
a. Date and time: July 4, 2017 from 8:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m.
b. Location: Lower Mississippi River MM 94.3 to MM 95.3 AHP, New Orleans, LA
c. Designated representative: USCG Auxiliary, MV PROTECTOR, VHF-FM Channel 16

Madisonville Old Fashion 4thof July
a. Date and time: July 4, 2017 from 8:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
b. Location: Tchefuncte River, one-half mile around 30-24-11.63N 090-09-17.39W
c. Designated Representative: USCG Auxiliary, VHF-FM Channel 16

Team Beachbody Coach Summit Fireworks
a. Date and time: July 14, 2017 from 10:30 p.m. until11:15 p.m.
b. Location: Lower Mississippi River MM 95.7 to MM 96.7 AHP, New Orleans, LA
c. Designated representative: USCG Auxiliary, MV PROTECTOR, VHF-FM Channel 16

All vessels are prohibited from entering these safety zones unless they have been granted permission by the Captain of the Port New Orleans or designated representative. The Captain of the Port’s designated representative for each safety zone is listed above. All vessels requesting permission to enter or transit through this safety zone are required to contact the designated representative via the contact methods listed above. Each designated representative will evaluate and allow vessels to transit through the safety zone on a case-by-case basis.

Additionally, there will be fireworks displays launched near water which will have no associated safety zone, as listed below. All mariners are advised to give a wide berth and transit those areas with caution during the scheduled times.

St. Charles Parish Fireworks
a. Date and time: July 3, 2017 from 9:00 p.m. until 9:35 p.m.
b. Location: levee along the right descending bank of the Lower Mississippi River at approximate MM 121.5 AHP

Treasure Chest Casino Fireworks
a. Date and time: July 4, 2017 from 9:00 p.m. until 9:30 p.m.
b. Location: Treasure Chest Casino, 5050 Williams Blvd, Kenner, LA. 500 feet in all directions from 30-02-32.4N 90-14-28.3W
