With the BDI (Baltic Dry Index) falling below the 900-point threshold and Geopolitics in jeopardy Planet Ocean turns dangerously around; John Faraclas’ recap:

The BDI Lost 19 points earlier on today and now reads 882.

The Capers’ BCI 2014 lost 54 points and now stands at 1,032; caution!

The Panamaxes were down 23 and the BPI now stands at 1,068…

The Supras’ BSI managed to lose just three points and manages to breath a bit…

The Handies managed to clinch just one point – an issue to “celebrate” and the BHSI now stands at 468 points; the only size even with one point plus!

The Wets on a falling mode; the last published BDTI (Dirties) and BCTI (Cleans) stood at 663 – down five and 563 – down six respectively!

All in all, a bad start for both Dries and Wets this crucial week. Caution!

The WTI rose to US$ 45.93 – still below the US$50 mark. We insist for further cuts in view of a good-for-all level of US$40; otherwise many will face the music.

On another tone with shipping, the markets and competitiveness, the German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schäuble once again demonstrated his envy against Greece’s masters of the seven seas by attacking them on tax grounds; see who’s talking, a minister who ignores the skeletons in his own cupboard. Based on all things being equal, this is another shameful at Herr Schäuble; grow up or else! The shipfinance front gets tough and it hurts obviously the German banking shipfinance with KG companies being the first victims. Who’s gone to write-off the colossal shipfinance debts of several German Banks?

The geopolitical situation becomes, as expected from our previous reporting, more the sour:

The MIGRANTS still remain the number one issue with Italy having just enough, given the surge of people crossing over from North Africa to Italian ports.

More than 73,000 MIGRANTS landed already this year, an increase of nearly 15 centum. Migrants continue to come to Europe via Turkey who keeps a blind eye taking revenge and blackmailing all… The Greek Islands of Lesvos, Chios, Samos and the Dodecanese continue to suffer!

The Wars in Syria and Iraq are still on. Let’s see when the superpowers get their act together and announce the end of the hostilities there – before the new ones start… Shame! We expect a decade of messy situation… ISIS will continue to use terrorism and strike… Shame!

Turkey MUST forget here and now its vision for yet another Ottoman Empire… Enough Mr. Erdogan!!! Turkey’s involvement in the Qatari crisis raises too many questions and eyebrows. It is also time for Turkey and its political elite to stop harassing Greece and Greeks with unprecedented the continues violation of Greece’s and Europe’s airspace and territorial waters. Enough!

On the Cyprus long running saga, Turkey must saw realism, the UN too, needless to say the EU having one of its nation-members divided by a nation – Turkey, with aspiration in entering the European Union, whilst not recognising the legal and sovereign state of Cyprus and military occupies 36 centum of the island…  All these years post the 1974 Turkish invasion proves that the Greek Colonels Coup there have nothing to do with whatever Turks claimed and continue to claim. If one day the real truth on Cyprus surfaces, wonder where all these negotiators will find a safe shelter… W reiterate that the Turkish involvemnet in Qatar is a dubious one!

Greece next door still on dire straits; have you ever imagine a GREXIT or even a total collapse of the Greek state or a revolt? Most of Greece’s 300 MP’s are mickeymousing… Nemesis is closely monitoring all of them and their time is running out – particularly that of the coalition of SYRIZA/ANEL. Ultra caution should be exercised… The recent earthquakes in Lesvos Islands and the promises of the government to assist those in need continue to be in 90 centum of the cases damn lies… Shame!  Did I hear you say rubbish? if this particular regime failed to deal with the rubbish, they are simply: rubbish!

Western Balkan are in a turmoil.

BREXIT with its twists and turns continues to make waves. Wonder if all involved know of the real issues of this divorce… Let us hope Mrs. May knows how to navigate in turbulent waters. On the other hand, we know the envy of Continental Europe against the British…

President Macron is about to overhaul MP’s in France and reduce their number significantly; can he deliver and what will be hte end result. Meantime  France remains on high alert vis-a-vis terrorists. France will sign a deal with Iran on gas. CNPC of China will follow suit too….

At the other side of the Atlantic, president Trump’s story continues in all fronts. A must for him to seat and pause tomorrow the Fourth of July and see how he best tackles all domestic and external affairs. We foresee a messy summer and beyond… Add the Chinese mess with the disputed Islands in the South China Sea with over ten claimants and see what you get…

Canadians celebrated their 150th Anniversary in full style despite Prime Minister’s Justin Trudeau gaffe on Alberta!

North Korea is a pariah state. Thank God the US and Japan together with South Korea are ready to continue the big push coming up…

Good to see a great evening and event this year on the Seatrade Awards in London last Friday. Congrats to all!

On another tone, what a week that was with the cuber attacks in shipping companies and beyond!

More news latter on; until then be on guard for any eventuality from Pirates and terrorists.
