Approaching the 1,000 points threshold under normal circumstances could have been a blessing for the BDI; volatility is an anathema. In the geopolitical front skirmishes all over Planet Ocean escalate and an all-out war can erupt any time now as diplomacy spectacularly failed. Greediness coupled with inferiority is the name of the game.  John Faraclas’ midweek report:

The BDI (Baltic Dry Index) ended up today with 28 points plus at 993, and ready to go over and above the 1,000 point threshold; good news for all – for the extreme… minimised short term…

The Capers managed another day with a triple plus digit number and the BCI ended the day at 1,475 points – up 144!

The Panamaxes on an interesting double digit plus with BPI at 1,118 points – up 20!

Uncertainty hits the small sizes; both the BSI – Supras and BHSI – Handies on a controlled fall – the first one lost seven points now standing at 772 and the latter was down four at 488. Critical figures…

As always, we reiterate the view that one size cannot dictate the markets nor two, but here clearly the Capers did it, but be cautious…

The Wets with a bit of mixed feelings; the last published BDTI (Dirties) and BCTI (Cleans) stood at 632 – down seven points and 543 – up two respectively…

The Box Trade needs an uplift, otherwise with the wrong consolidation and the poor global economy things will get sour!

The WTI fell a bit- that’s good news. At US$ 48.74 becomes the poor masses savour! A must to retain the WTI below the US$ 50 mark at any cost… Greediness destroys everything!

You dead well know what happened when Eva ate the apple… wonder what will happen with the bubble that will burst as nobody can eat this business bubble, I mean now that the Dow Jones Industrial average is over and above the 22,000 how does this correlates with an otherwise Global economy… Caution…as the end of your stay in paradise is about to be terminated…

On the Geopolitical front now, the MIGRANTS are by far the top issue; always more and more controversial things appear and it is a must to end this despicable situation as well as the handling of the Migrants; very inhumane.

We do not see much on the main news on the Wars in Syria and Iraq against Isis and all that …jazz there; one has to try and find out what is on. Censoring the news returns humanity to the Despots Dictatorial Military-style regimes… Obviously journalists are becoming – under duress, simple cronies of the system with respect these type of news… Shame! From our part here, our info tells us that the perplexed situation in the fighting platoon and in the “diplomatic” sectors is very serious as the strategists cannot agree in the carving of the region…

Turkey continues to distance itself from the path leading to Europe and Democracy by the way its leader derails the train towards a theocratic state… cutting sort whatever was achieved by Ataturk’s legacy in the interior and continues to pester all in the region… Expect mess from Turkey with incalculable repercurrsions for all, even its current protégées…

Next door Greece “enjoys” the summer break before the Aeolus winds supported by the Pandoras’ box of revelations…open and make it another mess there. The latest on education and who carries the flag in school parades proves how the morons  in power continue to destroy Greece and its people… SHAME, resign! Enough… On the external front the region faces an overcapacity of issues as we say in shipping and CAUTION is recommended.

Cyprus still the same; deprived of its freedom from all those supporting democracy, national integrity… and all that jazz… Wonder i the oil and Gas exploration changes the game there, or is it going to be an end game?

The Middle East, the Balkans and the Black Sea in the south west of Europe are the hot spots to watch… Moldova and Georgia must think twice before their behaviour attracts the wrath from Moscow…

In the North of Europe, the entire Baltic region is also in a mess and Poland plays with fire; we all know the feelings in Poland for Russia – ex Soviet Union, but remember: one thing at a time…

With the USA’s sanctions on for Russia, Iran and North Korea, Putin’s appetite might lead to other types of retaliation. Sanctions as we have said in the past, and following 72 years of Communism, do not touch the Russian people; it only make things worse for others… It reminds me of the sanctions with Cuban sugar during the Cold War or wine from South Africa during the Apartheid years; both ended in the USA and in Europe respectively via third countries… I am sure you recall these facts. |So cut the Mickey…

BREXIT; through a job advert the government plans to tackle unfair trade post BREXIT from October 2018, ahead of Britain’s exit in March 2019 enforcing its own trade rules which are now been done by the European Union… There is a lot to come up… A difficult and delicate process for all…

Fires in Portugal and in a few of Greece’s tourist spots (Spetses), but in Italy there is another issue to …”tackle”: Drought in 11 regions – an acute emergency… the events are not encouraging following the referendum there and president Maduros’ behaviour.

At the other side of the Atlantic now; north, in the USA president Trump has a lot to deal with: The Russian saga, the sanctions, Planet Oceans’ policing defending the super powers’ vested interest and obviously the North Koreans’ leader madness with his ballistic missile test… CAUTION both for domestic and international USA’s issues…

In South America the events are not encouraging following the referendum there and president Maduros’ behaviour following the controversial vote for the constitutional assembly in Venezuela diplomats’ families – British, are leaving. The situation is becoming day by day unbearable for all. A civil war might erupt there… In Brazil all eyes are …open to see whether president Temer will survive the corruption vote…

In Africa now and among other chronic issues in Nigeria thieves strip former leaders’ house…

In the Far East and in the subcontinent things remain pretty much the same with China provocatively flexing its trading muscles… In Afghanistan the deaths continue with suicide bombers killing two American soldiers and wonder when president Trump will increase the USA’s presence there. Ting are NOT working as per the strategists plans… Why??? That’s all for tonight, tomorrow is another day and will revert with more news.

Have a nice evening and be on guard as we always advise you to avoid Pirates and Terrorists looming in the background…
