The volatility returns in the most unusual way both for the shipping Markets and  their respective Indices as well as for the ever turbulent Geopolitics. John Faraclas’ daily briefing:

The BDI was up 12 points at 1,050 “rising” expectations given the Capers’ and Panamaxes’ upwards mode… we insist in remaining cool as things are NOT what they appear to be… This is a low key volatility and we “shouldn’t worry” for major positive changes…

The BCI was up 43 points  – now standing at 1,702, the BPI gained 22 now reading 1,192 points.

On the …antipode the other two dry indices, the BSI and the BHSI for the Supras’ and Handies’ continued their minimal fall; 756 and 467 – down three and five points respectively…

The Wets stagnant on the low side; the last published BDTI (Dirties) and BCTI (Cleans)  stood at 616 – up just two points and 556 – remaining flat since last Friday …

The WTI remained a fraction above the US$ 49 at US$ 49.32  to be precise – still fine so long as it remains below the US$ 50 mark.

The Containerships as we explained yesterday might lead to a market upheaval with incalculable repercurrsions. Imagine an accident in the Far East… You never ever know…

On the anniversary of the world’s worse ever ten-years crisis following the  crush and fall over in 2007, we wonder if you can see the mess that the shipping industry is going through, reshaping its status and converting same to be Shipping for the very very very few…

The Geopolitical issues remained the same, with the exemption of the climax (?) with the USA vs North Korea saga- read below:

The MIGRANTS still on top with more incidents in North Africa and the Aegean Sea… with more being found in a small plastic boat between the Greek islands of Ikaria and Mykonos.  Another rescue operation of the islet of Panagia in Inousses off the Greek Island of Chios. The Hellenic Coast Guard is overstretched yet it dos its best! An unending situation. Time to impose a Naval Blockade all over the Anatolian Coast of Turkey, with Rules of Engagement and whatever this entails. “Wonder” what the EU and NATO have to say on this… Both organisations so to speak are victims of the Turkish blackmail… Wonder how president Putin is viewing the situation…

The War in Syria and Iraq against ISIS and another two dozens of groups there continues. Still no light at the end of the tunnel and this prolonged situation might create more mess particularly in the Balkans and Black Sea regions. Few can see and very few can understand what is yet to come… The media are locked-out from transmitting what is really going on… We know of course by the number of Migrants fleeing the region… SHAME!

The Turkish paranoia produced  today 41 (forty-one) violations of Greece’s air space. Erdogan has found though his match in the Far East, that of North Korea’s Kim Jong-un threatening not just the USA but everybody in the  region and beyond. So we have two pariahs… The entire East Med region should be on guard ready to tackle Erdogan’s megalomania… Erdogan’s backers are to be blamed… as they are hypocrites to the fullest and worst extent.

The Greek modern drama enfolding with dangerous developments… Time to see as have numerous times stressed all Greece’s MP’s leave the Parliament. When people return form their holidays they will be faced with mountains of extra taxes and cuts… CAUTION!

BREXIT ten years after the Global Market’s crush  of 2007 continues; we shall see. Just for the record though UK’s national debt was £ 534 billion and now stands at 1.6 trillion; at the same time the £/$ stood at 2.11 then and now 1.30… Let’s see what happens in ten years time…

The latest French Terrorists’ attack  on soldiers in a nearby suburb of Paris – an act that will trigger the wrath of the French people and Security forces there to the extent of a harsh disproportional counter attack… juts wait and see..

At the other side of the Atlantic president Trump’s rhetoric might NOT be just a rhetoric and we might see even a preemptive attack… in the Pacific basin… The North Korean leader plays with fire and I guess Jim Matis, the USA’s Defense Secretary is absolute right to warn Pyongyang of the consequences ahead. One way or another though this mess must end here and now… What if something odd happens? It’s about time to get rid of  Kim Jong-un… and make it snappy… In the domestic front, president Trump’s former campaign chairman Paul Manafort’s home was raided in the early hours of this morning by the FBI.

Today also marks the 72nd anniversary of the Nagasaki nuclear bomb so things are running high in the region!

In China two earthquakes 6.6 and 7.0 of the Richter scale respectively hit Sichuan and XinJiang regions. 19 people are dead and 247 injured in Sichuan; in XinJiang 32 people were injured; pity…

In Venezuela, president Nicolas Maduro provokes his own luck…

On another tone, the count down for the biennial London International Shipping Week begins. See our various announcements and respective coverage. It will also be a great response of the Square Miles’ status for the BREXIT faithful that London is the Administrative Capital of Shipping and  will continue to call the shots! Reality bites!

Reverting tomorrow with more Geopolitical news; until then have a nice evening and be on guard for and from another attack(s) by these bastards, the Pirates and Terrorists  and the mafiossos wherever you are on Planet Ocean…
