The BDI (Baltic Dry Index) was for a second day slightly up thanks to the as ever volatile Capers; Geopolitics continue to be sour… John Faraclas’ midweek brief recap:

The BDI ended the day at 1,486 points – nine more since yesterday…

The Capers’ BCI gained 158 points driving …crazy all stakeholders. At 3,259 points the BCI stands safely, but volatility has two sides…

The Panamaxes fell 43 points with the BPI now reading 1,515 points…

Losses for the Supras; the BSI was down 27 points, considerably a substantial fall and now reads 961 – far lower from its 1,000 point threshold…

The Handies’ BHSI had marginal losses, just four points now standing at 654 points…

So all in all a downwards dry market; we reiterate the view that on size cannot dictate the Dry Market no matter the overall plus figure…

The Wets were also on a falling mode; the last published  BDTI (Dirties) and BCTI (Cleans) stood at 816 – down six and 542 – remaining the same as per yesterday’s closing respectively.

The WTI at US$ 54.21, although it has gone dangerously up to US$ 55.22… CAUTION as per our warnings, this rise might trigger unwanted situations!

The Geopolitics are to be carefully and closely watched…

The MIGRANTS still THE issue all over Planet Ocean… Add the mess in the entire Middle East and its periphery and you can now see the region we always had concerns over the past three years on fire; that is to say from Gibraltar to Afghanistan and from the Caucuses down to the Horn of Africa. Any objection?

The European Union will soon begin to shake; after all, promises make debts and debts make promises. Those in Brussels who failed to safeguard their promises all these years, they will pay the hefty penalty in a possible dismembering of the European Union. Responsibility rests entirely with them…

What a …”joke” these Paradise Papers; what a tit-for-tat that was… Love it and now expect the counter response from the “other” side. It is going to be a very interesting encounter! Watch this space!

Turkey and Greece remain as per previous reports and CAUTION for both with respect their own and different reasons. The more this situation continues it might lead to unwanted and detrimental situations all over, not just in the periphery, but beyond.

BREXIT still on the cards; Priti Patel resigned as UK International Development Secretary; you see unauthorised meetings bear a heavy cost… a lesson for all. Difficult days ahead for PM Theresa May, but discipline is discipline!

The Catalonian saga might lead to constitutional changes not only in Spain but also elsewhere…

President Trump continues his trip in the Far East. Meantime more and more issues are revealed; take Papadopoulos’ for example, George Papadopoulos meetings with FCO officials… let’s see what’s next. Above all the world awaits to see the end result with North Korea…

Anyway, that’s all for tonight. Have a nice evening; more news tomorrow for the above and other fronts!

On another tone, the third and final day of WTM London 2017 featured packed halls, numerous business meetings and insightful seminars and presentations. It was on all counts a great and successful event. See you next year there between the 5th and 7th of November 2018!

Be on guard from any eventuality emanating from Pirates and Terrorists of any kind all over Planet Ocean…
