The Royal Danish Navy Band will provide a festive opening, when the International Maritime Fair in Copenhagen – The Danish Maritime Fair 2018 – opens the doors for the first visitors on Wednesday, May 2nd at 9.00 am.Hundreds of exhibitors will be ready to showcase their products and explain the ideas behind them, in the big exhibition hall.

While the first guests are led into the exhibition hall, the first of the many maritime events which takes place alongside the Danish Maritime Fair, will also start. The Polish Embassy in Denmark will host a Danish-Polish maritime workshop in the small conference hall, which is located right next to the entrance in Lokomotivværkstedet, the rustic exhibition location in Copenhagen’s Sydhavn ,where the Danish Maritime Fair takes place.

Open Oceans Conference
At 9.30 am, the international maritime conference, Open Oceans Conference, starts in the large conference hall at the opposite end of Lokomotivværkstedet. The conference, which runs over the course of two days, is hosted by the Nor-Shipping fair.

This is the first time Nor-Shipping has chosen to host an event outside of Norway. The conference is expected to attract a lot of key stakeholders from the global maritime industry, and the list of speakers includes key leaders from both Danish and foreign shipping companies, international organizations and high-level people from the political world.

The official opening of the Danish Maritime Fair takes place in the small conference hall at 11.30.

The majority of the exhibitioners at the fair are from Denmark, but the list also includes a large number of exhibitioners from abroad, as for example three Turkish Shipping Companies.

– We aim to penetrate into Danish shipbuilding market. We are both interested in tanker and fishing vessel markets, says Engin Aybar, director at Hat-San Shipyard.

– We visit DanFish exhibition in Aalborg permanently. Bu this time we decided to open a stand in Danish Maritime Fair mostly targeting the merchant vessel’s owners. We expect to meet and cooperate with Danish ship owners for their new building orders of tanker and general cargo vessels, says Engin Aybar.

One of Danish exhibitors who have been part of the Danish Maritime fair from the very beginning is PJ Diesel, who in addition to having a large exhibition stand at the fair also have chosen to be the Gold sponsor for the entire Danish Maritime Fair.

– We are Gold Sponsor again this year, and this is a very conscious decision, as we would like to support the great initiative the best we possibly can. Denmark is the world’s sixth largest maritime nation, and it makes a lot of sense for us to have a maritime fair, with such a large presence in the maritime business, says Rasmus Elsborg-Jensen, General Manager of PJ Diesel.

Why do you feel that it is important to attend the Danish Maritime Fair 2018?

–-The Danish Maritime Fair is a great opportunity for us to meet our customers and suppliers under more casual conditions. At the same time the Fair gives us the opportunity to showcase our entire product portfolio.

Danish Maritime Technology Conference
At 13 o’clock the Danish Maritime Technology Conference, which is organized by Danish Maritime in close cooperation with the members of the organization, begins. The focus of the first day of the conference is autonomous systems and digitization. The conference runs over the course of two days and takes place in the small conference hall. Access to the conference is free but requires registration.

Another free activity is the workshop organized by DTU which is held in one of the conference rooms on the 1st floor, at the end of the exhibition hall. The workshop, which takes place between 13 and 17 o’clock, is titled ‘Maritime Logistics and Cyber Security at DTU’. The workshop is free but requires registration.

Wednesday the Danish Marine Fair close at 17 o’clock.

The fair gets a fresh start again on Thursday morning. At 9 o’clock the doors will open for the visitors to the second day of the fair, which is often the busiest day of exhibitions.

Alongside the 9 o’clock opening, the first workshop “Driving human performance seen from an organizational perspective” will open in one of the conference rooms on the 1st floor. Green-Jakobsen is in charge of the workshop, which is free but requires registration.

Registration for all events – both those who require payment and those who are free of charge – is done through the fair’s website www.danishmaritimefair.dk.

Half an hour later, at 9.30, the Open Oceans Conference will begin their program for the second day of the conference. At 10.00, the Danish Maritime Technology Conference – the main conference at the Danish Maritime Fair – will set of the second day of its 2-day program. Here the focus will be on how we can se technology towards obtaining a greener and more energy efficient future for shipping. The conference runs until 13 o’clock.

Networking Dinner
At 17:00 o’clock, the last visitors will leave the fair, and the exhibitors and invited guests will get ready for a well-deserved dinner in good company, at the fair’s big Networking Dinner. The event, which takes place on the top floor of DGI Byen – with a beautiful view of Copenhagen – starts at 19 o’clock and ends at 01 o’clock. Tickets can be purchased through: partnercare@maritimedenmark.dk.

The third and final day of the fair will similarly as the preceding days begin at 9:00 am when the doors will open for visitors. After two days of numerous conferences and meetings, the fair will be a bit more quiet on Friday – which nay delight the exhibitors and others who “worked hard” at the Networking Dinner Thursday evening.

However, a single event is scheduled for Friday morning, as the Danish Ship of the Year is awarded for the fourth time. The honour was invented by the company behind the Danish Maritime Fair – Media Group Maritime Denmark – in 2014. An independent expert committee chooses the winner – and the only requirement for participating ships is, that they are of Danish-design, built in Denmark or Danish-driven.

The winners of the first three years were:

• Danish Ship of the Year 2014: Bergensfjord, LNG-færge, Fjord Line • Danish Ship of the Year 2015: Princess Isabella, LNG ferry, Samsø Rederi • Danish Ship of the Year 2016: OV Bøkfjord, multifunction vessel, Hvide Sande Shipyard

You can enter a ship to the Danish Ship of the Year contest by sending a mail to office@danishmaritimefair.dk

The program for the third day of the fair, as well as the other days, is not yet set in stone. There may be new activities added to the program. New activities will be announced regularly.
