Tuapse port injects over $6M in production developement

TUAPSE SEA COMMERCIAL PORT INJECTS $6M INTO PRODUCTION DEVELOPMENT 

In 2017, Tuapse Sea Commercial Port JSC (TSCP, a company of UCL Holding) invested RUB 350.4 million (USD 6.1 million) in the development of its port infrastructure, which represents a 32% year-on-year increase.

In 2017, Tuapse Sea Commercial Port continued implementation of its investment programmes focused on maintenance of its production capacity and further development of the port. Under its equipment upgrade programme the company acquired a full-circle Mantsinen K200 (ЕS) crane with two 6 cbm clamshell buckets, a Liebherr front-end loader, 4 grabs including 2 radio remote control grabs of 18 cbm each as well as other attachments for wheel-mounted equipment and portal cranes. Besides, last year saw allocations for procurement of two fork-lift coupling units that are to be put into operation in 2018. In the reporting period, TSCP spent RUB 232.2 million on purchase of handling equipment.

Expenses for implementation of investment projects on reconstruction of the Tuapse Grain Terminal and expansion of Ro-Ro handling facilities totaled RUB 63.5 million. Most of design and pre-construction activities were completed last year. TSCP is to embark on construction of new facilities in 2018, as scheduled.

As part of a comprehensive programme on reduction of coal dust content in the air Tuapse Sea Commercial Port spent RUB 14.2 million on production and assembling of 4-meter high shielding. Such structures were additionally installed in coal handling areas with the highest wind load. According to authorized recommendations, such shielding is recognized as one of the most efficient measured to reduce coal dust content in air.

RUB 4.7 million was allocated for maintenance of oil handling facilities, particularly for the construction of protective structures and completion of works on upgrading emergency shutdown and fire alarm systems.

Apart from investments in the development of production facilities TSCP has been consistently implementing its programmes on improving all spheres of the port activity. In 2017, the company spent RUB 5.3 million on modernization of the port’s exterior lighting including replacement of all gas-discharge mercury-containing lamps and glow lamps with more environmentally friendly and low-energy LED lamps. With those measures, last year saw the reduction of TSCP expenses for electrical energy by RUB 2 million.
There is one more infrastructure project aimed to improve energy efficiency and environmental friendliness of port activities – construction of a gas pipeline and conversion of the port’s boiler stations to gas fuel. In 2017, expenses under the project totaled RUB 3.2 million. Its completion is expected in 2019 with total expenses to make some RUB 20 million.

As part of the development programme of 2017 the company made allocations for upgrading the vessels’ rescue equipment and communication facilities (RUB 1.3 million), fire protection equipment and environmental activities (RUB 4.9 million), communication and IT equipment (RUB 2.9 million), purchase of other tangible/intangible assets needed for stable operation and comprehensive development of the port.
