SHIPPINGInsight 2018 Rides the Wave of Maritime Change – Fleet Optimization and Innovation Key to Success
“The operative word to describe SHIPPINGInsight 2018 is “new”- new venue, new format, new ideas, new
opportunities and new era” declared Carleen Lyden Walker, Managing Partner, in announcing plans for the 7thSHIPPINGInsight Conference and Exhibition being held in Stamford, Connecticut October 16-18 at the newly renovated Stamford Hilton. Carleen is taking over the reins from the event’s founders Jim Rhodes and Frank Soccoli, and intends to match the industry’s confrontation with change by re-visioning this annual event.
“This event will help propel shipowners as they face the decisions necessary to drive success in today’s competitive and rapidly evolving industry,” stated Carleen. “We are assembling both visionaries and technicians from across the spectrum of fleet optimization and innovation to caucus on what is necessary to move forward. Time waits for no one, and the clock is ticking!”
As described by Carleen, the conference and exhibition will take place over three days; the first day will begin with 2 private label seminars being hosted by SHIPPINGInsight sponsors. “ABS has already reserved one of the seminars as a Platinum Sponsor,” revealed Carleen. The conference will be opened by Chairman Angus Campbell of Bernard Schulte Shipmanagement, and followed by Setting the stage- Global risk and Geopolitical Strategies for 2020 and beyond by Washington DC thinktank insider, John Sitilides. The first roundtable discussion will focus on “Transformative Technologies- What shipping will soon look like” and feature speakers who are embracing change. This will be followed by a discussion of “The Great Race- Emissions 2020 and Beyond”.
Day 2 will offer two sponsored breakfast seminars, with “Managing Risk Through Change” as the opening plenary discussion followed by a roundtable on “The Holy Grail- Transactional and Operational Efficiencies”. Breakout sessions will include “Digitalization and Cybersecurity”, and “Energy Alternatives” followed by the annual Awards Luncheon recognizing signature collaborations between shipowners and technology suppliers. The afternoon will include breakout sessions “Fuel and Bunkering” and “The Human Element” followed by plenary sessions on “Using What We Know in a Data Driven World” and “Connected Ships and Big Data”. Additional visibility will be offered through an expanded use of SHIPPINGInsightTV.
Day 3 also offers two sponsored breakfast seminars before morning breakout sessions on Regulatory Compliance and Fleet Optimization. The final plenary session will address the challenges and benefits of “The Age of Autonomy”.
“Jack Welch once said: ‘Change before you have to’. Now is the time to strategize the changes necessary to meet tomorrow’s requirements,” stated Carleen. “SHIPPINGInsight 2018 will support that process.”
