LOCKMASTERS’ STRIKE DURATION UPDATE

Testing of AUV off St John’s Island
Wednesday, April 11, 2018, Singapore

From 16 to 27 April, testing of an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) will be conducted in waters east of St John’s Island.

According to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore Port Marine Notice No.037 of 2018 dated 11 April 2018, the testing will be carried out on weekdays from 0900 to 1800 hours daily (there will be no night activity), within the working area bounded by the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum):
1) 01 deg. 13.133’N / 103 deg. 51.137’E
2) 01 deg. 12.960’N / 103 deg. 51.229’E
3) 01 deg. 12.925’N / 103 deg. 51.137’E

The AUV will be deployed by jetty crane and side-towed to the test area by a motorized dinghy.

A safety boat will be in attendance at all times to warn and re-direct craft in

the vicinity to keep clear of the working area.

Craft involved in the testing will exhibit the appropriate local and international day signals.

When in the vicinity of the working area, mariners are reminded to:
a) Keep well clear and not to enter the working area;
b) Maintain a proper lookout;
c) Proceed at a safe speed and navigate with caution;
d) Maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 68 (West Control);
and
e) Communicate with West Control on VHF Channel 68 for assistance, if required.

Lockmasters’ strike duration update

The strike by lockmasters in the Kiel Canal announced yesterday is now expected to start from 0600 hours local time on Thursday 12 April and continue for 24 hours until 0600 on Friday 13 April.
