During the last Harbour Masters meeting, held in Madrid, it was agreed to support the “Boarding Program for Maritime Cadets” established by the General Directorate of the Merchant Marine, which has already become a benchmark at an international level.

In this sense, all applications of Cadets for boarding that may be submitted through the Harbour Master´s Offices, will be processed through the Capt. Antonio M. Padrón, IMO Maritime Ambassador, who coordinates relations with national and foreign shipping companies in order to procure available positions for Nautical Students to carry out their compulsory training period at sea.

Having started in our country, at present, the Program has a total of 519 students from different countries: Cape Verde, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cote d’Ivoire, Ecuador, Georgia, Italy, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Spain, United States (USA) and Venezuela, of which 299 are Spanish.

In just over a year and a half, through the Program, a total of 111 students have been embarked, with the collaboration of more than 100 national and foreign entities.
