Breaking the Mould: an insight into the work of a cargo expert and international mouldy food claims

Join WISTA for our next free networking event where you can find out more about cargo damage and meet like-minded shipping professionals over a glass of wine!
Talks start at 7pm. Light refreshments will be provided.

Dr Stephanie Heard discusses the global shipment of bulk food cargoes and some interesting investigations into mouldy food claims.

Stephanie trained as a molecular and field plant pathologist at Rothamsted Research and for the last 4 years has been assisting P&I and insurance providers by applying scientific knowledge of mould and plant deterioration to the shipment of food cargoes across the world.

Stephanie is a consultant scientist at CWA International where she is involved in the forensic investigation of damage causation and mitigation of claims made during the transport of food and feed cargoes, attending at ports in Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East. She has also acted as an Expert Witness in a Chinese court.
