The BDI (Baltic Dry Index) gained 37 points earlier today and now stands at 1,422; Geopolitics as explosive as ever in all fronts! John Faraclas’ daily recap:

The Markets and in particular the Dry ones are grounded; end of the story! The only exemption being the Capes’ BCI which had a triple-digit point plus of 134-  now reading 1,422 points. Once again we repeat our position: one size / category doesn’t make or “create” the market!

The Panamaxes BPI clinched two points and now stands at 1,338 points…

Down eight for the Supras’ BSI now standing at 1,034 points…

Minus six for the Handies’ BHSI  now reading 576 points…

The Wets with mixed feelings reaching already very low levels; the last published BDTI (Dirties) and BCTI (Cleans) stood at 712 – minus 12 points and 496 – plus three respectively… Difficult days lay ahead for the Wets…

The WTI as these lines are being written stands at US$ 73.10 – slightly fell but this fall was minimal. We need to see a fall of say US$ 23.11 to go just under the US$ 50 mark – otherwise get geared for trouble…

Geopolitics as mentioned in the preamble are getting sour..:

The MIGRANTS threaten to split Planet Ocean in two… Over a thousand went missing since Friday  the 29th of June; many have drown… In Germany Mrs. Merkel had a tough weekend and only today things got better… The main issue is that both Germany and the EU are split on the MIGRANTS issue and this might trigger other despicable issues with incalculable repercussions too. Only S&P shipbrokers can do the deal; it will be tough though!

The Wars in Syria and Iraq continue is a faster and devastating pace for the public… Expect hell, yes you are reading correctly: hell… Wonder why the super powers call a fast one on all of us, as the end result is more MIGRANTS into Europe, total destabilization of the entire Middle East and that will lead to Israel getting very much involved… CAUTION!

Turkey, after Afrin in Syria, enters Northern Iraq trying to finish off the Kurds… Be on guard on Turkey’s current and future actions against all its neighbours… Watch out the finances too… The Turkish Lira might go into a free-fall… Inflation last month surpassed 15 (fifteen) centum… President Erdogan will spill over hell in the entire region; just wait and see…

Greece in limbo – the supposed financial packages end but in my humble view bankruptcy is ante portas… The MIGRANTS will continue to cause discontent, primarily amongst the islanders in all of Greece’s Eastern Aegean Islands. You see for those morons living in Athens as well as being ignorant of what it entails to negotiate a just deal, this is all about… Add the EU’s wrong policies from the very beginning and see were we ended up. ONLY a Naval Blockade with a clear Mandate and Rules of engagement can save the day and also give an end to the loss of life from all these boats which sink every other day with an average of 50 people – amongst them babies, being lost!  This will also make Turkey stop the blackmail against Europe!!! Did I hear you say 1,000,000 million Greeks are unemployed and the brain drain  – particularly in the EU has approached 500,000???

The Balkans in an unprecedented mess! There will be a domino effect of developments very soon… You bet!!!! Albania, Kosovo, fYRoM to name but a few with other …eagles ready to step in the melee…

Germany in tatters particularly trying to hold the EU together. Germany needs to get out of the box… Enough!

All eyes are watching the new Italian government and its progress. The debts are high!!! Are all the roads still leading to Rome?

BREXIT continues and hope Mrs. May will do it: she will find the way – she knows best. Add the fact that in my view a free trade oriented Britain can have a better future…  Attention is drawn as this coming Friday a new plan will be presented for post-Brexit customs arrangements and looks likely to be a “significant step forward!

New president in Mexico… Left-wing Andrés Manuel López Obrador, Mexico’s president elect and US President Donald Trump had a chat and let’s hope that MIGRANTS and Trade disputes will ease and a potential deal on much needed development takes place for the benefit of both nations!

Putin’s Russia continues its own agenda – a very provocative and very dangerous one… Crimea is there to stay in Russian  hands…

In the USA president Trump will face the EU states counter measures in a trade war that never ever before existed. This will affect shipping!

In China a road collapse was caught on CCTV… wonder what will happen at the end of day with China’s New Silk Road…

In Africa, particularly in Libya more and more MIGRANTS try to make it to Italy / EU and more and more go missing. Until now from the 1st of January 2018 over 1,000 have gone missing… SHAME!!!

The World Cup in Russia continues with renewed interest due to the surprises… Excellent!

This is what I call success, fun and joy!

On another tone and note the HESGB annual summer BBQ at Trailfinders  Sports Club in West Ealing was yet again another success despite the heatwave we experience these days in the United Kingdom and in particular around Father Thames in London…

Nearly 200 members and their guests, including the young generation participated. The food, Greek of course was very special with spicy tzoutzoukakia being the talk of the day…

Smiling faces to r: Ioanna Sgourdopoulou-Karra, DNV Gl’s Kostas Papadakis, Camila Diniz, Intercargo’s Kostas Gkionis, Margarita Goulandris and Nikos Lilis

We counted seven nationalities and also 35 members and guests come from as far as Sunderland and Southampton even from Chios in Greece! Don’t need to mention Pavlos’ live music extravaganza which brought most on stage!

And there was the World Cup in Russia on the  main screen for those soccer …fanatics with the host country advancing to the next round 4-3 on a Russian Roulette penalty shoot-out… Croatia  advanced too in the same ..fashion leaving the Danes behind…

HESGB president Dimitris Monioudis (centre) with Dr. Panagiotis Angeloudis and his wife Despina

The Heatwave (with capital H)  in the entire UK “brings” also the heatwave of HESGB forthcoming elections this month. Five women will also stand according to HESGB president Dimitris Monioudis; a good point in his short speech!!!

That’s all for tonight and continue to be on guard from actions emanating from Pirates, Terrorists and Criminals of any kind wherever you are on Planet Ocean; you are being warned as too many things are happening lately putting our security and well-being at risk!
