The BDI (Baltic Dry Index) gained 21 points earlier on today and at 1,434 we must admit this is a good restart and hope same lasts for the benefit of all as otherwise with the messy Geopolitics things will continue to be uncertain and sour. John Faraclas’ daily market and Geopolitics briefing:

The Capes’ BCI was up 24 points and now reads 1,864… Still a long way to go up to the 3,000 threshold that all wish to see again…

Similar gains for the Panamaxes’ BPI  now at 1,609 points; up 23! Again like in the Capes’ case we are far apart the 2,500 level needed to breath…

A good double digit figure for the Supras’ BSI  now at 1,185 – up ten …

The Handies’ BHSI managed to clinch five points and stand at 622…

All in all we are in early days and let’s hope but also press the politicians to stop dirty market practices which only make things worse for all…

The Wets were both up; the last published BDTI (Dirties) and BCTI (Cleans) stood at 791 +11  and 511 +8 respectively…

On both main markets but also for the Container trade respective stakeholders MUST understand that the Market parameters ARE changing and so does the ownership structue. Shipping day by Day becomes Shipping for the very very very few; end of the story!

The WTI stood just above the US$ 72.20 and things are getting sour for the masses…

The Geopolitics are already creating chaotic and despicable situations:

The MIGRANTS saga NOT only got worse – the trafficking is now overall double since last year. Don’t ask how the politicians and diplomats handle the situation… All nations from Gibraltar to Syria are in a total mess. The dangerous belt from Gib (Gibraltar) to Afghanistan and from the Caucuses to the Horn of Africa is more than dangerous greatly affecting all 28 EU nations and beyond. Did I here you say social cohesion…? The Italian government backs anti-immigrant bill !!!

The Wars all over the place are an everyday thing so to speak with the Middle East producing shocks… Expect a major spill over with incalculable repercussions for all. Diplomacy must …fail to give way to War, the Father of all… Syria and Iraq are still in a total mess…

Greece, Turkey, Cyprus and the Balkans remain in limbo. Expect developments and get tuned with the UN assembly; a lot can be understood… An interesting week ahead…

BREXIT threatens to rock not just Europe but the entire Planet Ocean. Bullying the UK will end in tears for all those who underestimate the end result… and in particular the British people…

On poverty stricken Venezuela a Chinese hospital ship docks in La Guaira for a week to offer free health care given the Maduro regime’s collapse… the humanitarian crisis leads to despicable events with many crossing over to neighbouring countries; caution!

On another tone and note, the landing on Chios by Navigator for its successful weekend for the 1st Shipping Decision Makers Weekend must be continued further and not just improved but enhanced and all stakeholders should grasp the chance and offer the best both for the new generation willing to continue and or get a sea-job whether on board ships or at ashore as well as for themselves! We are here to join forces for this purpose!

Capital Link’s London 11th Shipping and Marine Services Forum at the Royal Society tomorrow is expected to bring up major challenges in a very waring environment and will revert on the enfolding events there. Soon after the 2nd Invest in Cyprus Forum at the Metropolitan Club in New York…

Remind you WISTA’s International Conference in Tromso Norway 23 – 26 October 2018www.wistainternational2018.com  and the IBIA’s one in Copenhagen 6-8 November 2018 www.ibiaconvention.com

More news tomorrow, until then remain on guard for any eventuality emanating from Pirates, Terrorists and Criminals of any kind wherever you are on Planet Ocean!
