The BDI (Baltic Dry Index) fell earlier on today 20 points; it was an expected result following yestedays perplexed figures… the Geopolitical and mainly economic chaos and environmental “concerns” all over Planet Ocean will affect everything. John Faraclas’ brief daily recap:

The Capes’ BCI lost 51 points and now stands at 2,148 – still a good level, but… The most volatile of all indices sends alarms around…CAUTION

A bit of good news from the Panamaxes; a good 27 points plus recovery with the BPI at 1,706 points.
Minor but positive upwards move for both the Supras and the Handies; the BSI stood at 1,192 – plus two and the BHSI at 634 plus one point respectively…

We are now 693 point below the end of December 2013 mark when the BDI stood at 2,247 points…

The Wets were both up seven points; the last published BDTI (Dirties) and BCTI (Cleans) stood at 808 and 558 points respectively…

High level and rising WTI becomes a liability for all stakeholders in the entire shipping industry – and beyond with the US$ 74 plus mark ready to go even higher tomorrow… Ultra-caution should be observed.

The chaotic Geopolitical situation coupled with extreme economic and financial mess will soon create worse conditions for all on Planet Ocean…:

MIGRANTS on top in all aspects and in many counties particularly in Europe with Spain, Italy and Greece mostly affected by the Brussels’ moron politicians, diplomats, their cronies and a lot NGO’s; we reiterate our “definition” that all ae “morons” as current scandals and results speak for themselves. Add the fact that some countries had enough and Italy lately sends alarming bells accusing also Brussels for its despicable attitude… Shame…

The Wars in Syria and Iraq as well as those in the wider periphery create more instability, more MIGRANTS, more conflicts leading to all out wars… Breaking the social cohesion is too bad and this will have for all incalculable repercussions…

Turkey still in the same modus bullying all of its neighbours and stirring up the Balkans for more conflicts there given the weak situation and the instability in fYroM – not just for the name’s shake issue, but beyond that, Albania’s and Serbia’s future “crush” over Kosovo and this might ignite hell so to speak… Add the financial state of affairs all over the Balkans and see what you get…

The Damocles’ Sword …still exists in Greece were despicable developments are expected any moment from now… It is good to see the USA getting closer with Greece encouraging its investors to invest particularly in Northern Greece… Meantime we believe that the MIGRANTS figure to the Greek Islands in the Aegean Sea being “send” from Turkey have doubled… Investigations should take place for the entire MIGRANTS issue in Greece in its entirety!!!!

Turkey on purpose has been risen to 50 (fifty) centum this year whilst “everybody” “expected” with statements that same was going to be reduced… Who’s mickey-moussing about, eh!

Italy as said in previous reports must make or break… CAUTION and patience from all should be observed!!!

BREXIT makes waves all over and let’s see the end result for all. It is not clear what will happen as all wish to avoid the big bung… I guess Europe doesn’t want to lose the United Kingdom, but… As we say in shipping it is a “both to blame” collision! There were rules for a country to join but also there should have been definite rules for a country to leave or even to be expelled! In the Continent – as the case is, they have all- particularly the Germans and then the French, took it for granted that there won’t be a nation leaving the European Union…
At the other side of the Atlantic expect turbulences on the Bret Kavanaugh affair so to speak… On other issues we note that Canada as the host country didn’t invite the USA and China for the WTO high-level meeting on reforming the organisation…

Russia continues its own agenda and Indian forces were supplied or are to be supplied with S-400’s …whilst the Indian Rupee bottoms out… Caution! President Putin is not to be in any way undermined! His actions until now speak for themselves. You need though a good negotiator-leader to deal with him… not petty managers…

China must be CAUTIONED in World Trade Organisation as well as for its geopolitical aspirations for islands and islets in the South China Sea as well as its branding and pricing of goods made in China flooding mainly in the Western Markets creating among other issues too many bankruptcies… China must respect ethics and rules as well as traditions in trade and commerce and to thank the international community in rallying around China to get the Chinese in the new millennium on a far better economic wealth terms, conditions and results – see how many westerner build ships in China, Greeks in particular… Try now to interpret this vis-à-vis the Chinese “intrusion” in the rag trade err garments so to speak, for example in Greece..

Japan continues to keep an eye on all global issues and regional security…

A bit of a calm period in the Korean Peninsula… Be on guard though…

In Africa we have some noticeable events:

South Africa’s president urges its population to bu local… and in central Nigeria gunmen kill 21 in hte Plateau state…

The panel on an l to r: Hilton Von Herbert, senior immigration caseworker at the Ealing Law Centre, Louis Loizou, president of the Hellenic Bankers Association and Makis Galiatsatos from the European Parliament’s office in London

On another tone and note, the Hellenic Bankers Association organised at London’s Hellenic Centre in association with the Hellenic Societies of Bank of England, Deloitte, HSBC, UBS and the Hellenic Law Association-UK as well as with the European Commission’s Representation in the UK and the European Parliament’s Information Office in the UK a very informative event titled “Brexit & EU Citizens’ Rights” with two speakers. Afterwards a  Q&A period took place where a dozen questions were aired!!! An intense networking followed over the drinks and dips with the majority of the attendees being between 25 and 45 years old from all professions and backgrounds!!!

A full house with the 25-45 yea old ones being the majority

Good to see friends from the past but also meeting the new generation of Greeks in London and listening to their issues and concerns. Given what takes place now with the perplexed situation and the to and fro negotiations between the United Kingdom and the European Union over BREXIT , expect more of such events to take place.

Remind you also of a similar event back on the 17th of  July at the same place where the Home Office, the Greek Embassy and the Hellenic Centre joint event for the Greek Community, an outreach event with respect what happens in the pre- and post BREXIT period with the Greeks over here in the United Kingdom!

We might have more news later on tonight, until then have a nice evening and continue to be on guard for any eventuality emanating from Pirates, Terrorists and any Criminals whatsoever wherever you are on Planet Ocean…
