The BDI  (Baltic Dry Index) lost six points earlier on today, a rather contained fall thanks to the Panamaxes upwards “trend” as the Capes’ fall triggers worries… Geopolitics go bankrupt… John Faraclas’ brief market recap:

The Capes’ BCI lost 39 points and now stand at  2,042, CAUTION…

The Panamaxes’ BPI gained 22 points and now reads  1,749…

Good news for the Supras’ BSI now over and above the 1,200 threshold with four points plus now reading  1,201

The Handies did it again and the BHSI now stands at  639, plus two!

The Wets on the up; the last published BDTI (Dirties) and BCTI (Cleans) stood at 853 and 596 points respectively – up 19 and nine!

The WTI still above the US$ 74 mark at US$ 74,14! These US$ 24 make the big difference AND the big mess!

The Geopolitics not just perplexed, …bankrupt.

MIGRANTS still on top of all issues; too many are still coming from Turkey, be it the Anatolian coast or Evros River… as well as from the North African coast… So, why this “conspiracy” continues? The Greek governments have spectacularly failed to tackle the issue… It is to the detriment of all to see this apathy with too much blah blah blah. Europe too for its own reasons “cannot” cope…. This is another time-bomb as amongst the MIGRANTS there are now in the open jihadists and their graffiti “speaks” out. CAUTION!!!

Isn’t time to see the end of the Syrian and Iraqi wars, or do we wait to see Turkey’s invasion there with whatever this entails? Obviously too many things are happening in these two countries but the more “we” delay the end of this despicable saga, the more trouble we are going to face…

Turkey and its president must make or break as its current behaviour doesn’t conform an iota for a NATO member and all of its neighbours had enough from its bullying. Time of the Erdogan’s Turks to understand that the Ottoman Empire is over; same applies for its warring opposition – they are even worse. What annoys all in the region is the way Turkey stir-ups the Balkans…

Greece is now in dire straits both for all its domestic chronic issues as well as to its foreign policy. Greece needs a leader to lead an ARISTOS government and take the country out of this mess which coupled with petty populists politicians, demagogues et al has grounded the motor vessel “Hellas”… We are not fans of catastrophology but reality bites and the Greek people had enough. Brussels and its backers should NOT use Greece and its people as a scapegoat…

The Balkans continue to be the tinderbox of Europe and  the Russian factor will do its best, not just to destabilise the region, but beyond. Albania, Bosnia & Hergegovina, fYroM, Kosovo and Serbia are all in tatters and ultra-caution should be observed…

Italy under the new coalition government will become a tough cookie for the EU and Brussels must be very careful… For sure there is going to be a big bang… sometimes not all roads lead to Rome!

BREXIT still has many twists and turns and wonder what William Shakespeare would have said and written. It could have  been a very interesting play complementing the Merchant of Venice…

In Latvia a pro-Russia party manage to win most of the votes last Saturday but can Harmony form a harmonious coalition? Difficult days ahead for all there…

Kavanaugh has been confirmed so all looks fine now!  What we all want to see is how the Trump administration contacts the Trade War, Tariffs and Sanctions…

In South America Brazil’s Jai Bolsonaro will continue his tough right-wing stance… A difficult second round ahead…

Haiti’s earthquake one of the worse so far…

Venezuela once again pauses more dangers and upheavals… Nicholas Maduro or somebody else must make or brake…

Expect news from South Africa tomorrow as we feel a scandal is on there and time for somebody to go.

Maria and Antonis Katepodis with Anastasios Astyfidis and Stavros Anagnou from Ambrosia Capital

On another note and tone the London Greek community gathered at the Hellenic Centre’s Friends Room to bid farewell to the First Counselor for Economic and Commercial Affairs. Antonis Katepodis after seven years departs to Athens. He will be remembered for his openness, hard work and successful outcome of many events he organised given the economic circumstances prevailing all over Planet Ocean. There wasn’t an event in London that he wasn’t present holding a unique record!

A view from the Friends Room during the reception

A great promoter of Greece’s interests abroad particularly in the very perplexed British Market amid fierce competition ! Last year he managed to stage a monumental event promoting Greek Wines in the British capital! Good to see many friends and colleagues including many from the past there at the Friends Room to honour him!

That’s all for now, have a nice evening and remain on guard from any actions emanating from Pirates, Terrorists and Criminals whatsoever wherever you are on Planet Ocean. Expect a messy Autumn as humanity will be tested to the full – from “man” made disasters to natural ones…
