The BDI  (Baltic Dry Index) lost, thanks to Posidon, just six points since last Friday the  8th of February, and let’s hope this disastrous skyfall will end soon. Geopolitics getting off hand. John Faraclas’ brief daily recap:

The Capes still the big looser with the BCI down 56 points to 736! Let’s see when this disaster ends…

All the rest of the Dry Indices were on an upwards “trend”; the Panamaxes’ BPI was up 14 points and now reads 586!

The Supras’ BSI was also up; 14 points plus bought the BSI to 429 points!

The Handies’ BHSI clinched two points and now stands at 292 points!

So the gap now reached 1,652 points: BDI as of the end of December 2013 2,247 points minus 595 today – losing also the 600 points threshold)… D I S A S T E R! Loud and Clear: That’s the harsh reality! Once again we reiterate the view for the BDI reaching firstly the 2,000 and then the 2,500 points; that and ONLY that will make sense.-

The Box trade still trying to re-invent itself… Still tough times ahead…It’s not just the Trade War and its possible escalation between the USA and Chine, it’s more than that! WE LIVE IN A BANKRUPT WORLD; end of the story. AT the end of the day main things will be moved and China has to import too… but…

The Wets’ fall continued, even minimal; the last published BDTI (Dirties) and BCTI (Cleans) stood at 795 and 624 – minus two and five points respectively! We need to see both over and above the 1,000 points each!

The WTI as of 23:00 GMT stood at US$ 52.41… close to Friday’s closing What’s up then…

The Geopolitics still with the usual main issues which unfortunately deteriorate… Not a nice situation. Perplexed and Warring. Expect despicable things to happen particularly when funds are unavailable. Like it or not Recession is the name of the game! Who can confront this Recession? How long same will last?

MIGRANTS, The Mighty Continent in tatters – in search of a leader, a real leader no manager-prime ministers and presidents in title only! France and Italy and Greece with too many issues followed by the other two south EU countries, Portugal and Spain. A turbulent so to speak BREXIT sending shocking messages all over… What is it going to happen. Neither the British nor the EU people had a clue of any term or condition on BREXIT and its aftermath when they went to vote in the 2016 Referendum! !  S H A M E!

The Balkans… The Black Sea with the Crimean saga…

Turkish bullying… Greece’s unending drama… Cyprus’ bullied by Turkey… The Middle East and its Wars… The Trade War with two superpowers playing a very silly game to the detriment of the 7.7 billion people…

The USA on the eve of yet another shut-down…

Poor Venezuelans suffering to the worse extend…

That’s all for now and ensure you have a ticket for the forthcoming HESGB (Hellenic Engineers Society of Great Britain) 24th Annual Dinner and Dance on the 23rd of February!

Two days latter its IBIA’s Gala; ensure you have a ticket too for this super event.

Conferences-wise ensue you attend the 10th Capital Link Greek Shipping Forum on Challenges and Opportunities at the Athens Hilton Hotel on 22 February 2019.

On another sad though tone and note a day  of mourning as Niki Goulandris begins he journey to eternity. A great loss for humanity, for the Arts, the Environment!

Have a nice evening and remain on guard from actions emanating from Pirates, Terrorists, Criminals and any Business Hooligans whatsoever wherever you are on Planet Ocean!
