Throughput of Tuapse Sea Commercial Port totaled 4.2 mio tonnes in Q1 2019

In the first quarter of 2019, Tuapse Sea Commercial Port (TSCP Group, part of UCL Holding) handled 4.2 million tonnes, up 8%, year-on-year.

The increase of total cargo throughput of 0.3 million tonnes was driven by positive dynamics in transshipment of oil cargo to 2.1 million tonnes (+0.4 million tonnes, or +24.2%) and coal to 0.77 million tonnes (+0.1 million tonnes, or 11.3%).

In the first quarter of 2019, the company handled 0.73 million tonnes of slabs (+2.6%) which partially compensated the reduction of other ferrous metal amid low demand from consignors. Total turnover of ferrous metal fell by 4.3% to 0.76 million tonnes.

Grain turnover dynamics reflected the general trend in this cargo market amid the reduction of stocks and current pricing: over the three months of the current year Tuapse Grain Terminal shipped 0.5 million tonnes of export grain (-24.4%).

In 1Q’2019, Tuapse Sea Commercial Port continued boosting transshipment of fruits and vegetables to 26,500 tonnes, which is 2.5 times as much as in the same period of the previous year.

The volume of exports, which forms the bulk of TSCP throughput, totaled 4.1 million tonnes. Transshipment of import and coastal trade cargo grew to 84,000 tonnes.

Between January and March 2019, the port handled 164 commercial ships (84 dry cargo carriers and 80 oil tankers) and 29,000 railcars.
