The BDI@2,011 …and time to celebrate before the storm…*

The BDI (Baltic Dry Index) finally “did it”… surpassing the 2,000 points threshold and indeed under the circumstances is a milestone… Geopolitics still perplexed, explosive but very much interesting… John Faraclas’ brief recap:

With 83 points plus – thanks to the Capes and Panamaxes good performance the BDI managed to go over and above the 2,000 points, the figure-lever we were expecting since yesterday…

The Capes’ BCI gained 244 points approaching the 4,000 points – the recorded 3,968 points tells it all! We shall see what’s next soon…

The Panamaxes rise was better since yesterday and with
addition of 60 points to BPI now stands at 2,052 the highest since 16th of December 2013!

The Supras’ BSI went above the 900 point mark at 905 – plus 17!!!

The Handies too rose a bit; the BHSI gained five points and now reads 477 points!

All in all we are 236 points below the end of Dec 2013 when the BDI stood at 2,247 points (2,247 – 2,011)!!!

Falling Wets yet again; the last published BDTI (Dirty) and BCTI (Cleans) stood at 627 – minus one and 523 – also minus one points respectively…

The WTI as these lines are being written reads US$57.62 – a nice fall from yesterday’s US$ 59.58!!! I like it!

The Geopolitical spectrum remains in limbo…

The same issues as per yesterday and let’s see where all this leads too… In our humble view War is inevitable; end of the story. MIGRANTS, the East med/Mid East issues, Iran, the Trade Wars, BREXIT and the new head of the Conservative Party and British PM… mind the low pound and the strange euro/dollar behaviour…

Let’s see what Ursula von der Leyen will do as president of the European Union’s Commission replacing Jean-Claude Junker on the 1st November. Her narrow win for us here at allaboutshipping.co.uk doesn’t mean anything at all, her performance in this post though is an issue. Can she make it? Can she deliver? We wish her best but also wish to see a just treatment for all members to confirm her saying for a more united and powerful Europe from east to west and from south to the north particularly with the despicable Turkish behaviour! Welcome Frau von der Leyen!

More news tomorrow; until then have a nice evening enjoy the Full Moon with a partial eclipse and continue to remain on guard from actions emanating from Pirates, Terrorists, criminals and Business Hooligans whatsoever wherever you are on Planet Ocean!

*Listen to the song by Rare Earth: I just want to celebrate… and get the meaning!
