The BDI “recovers”, Wets “falling” and Geopolitics more than messy…

The BDI (Baltic Dry Index) gained 61 points earlier on today and now reads 1,528 – over and above the 1,500 points. The weekly gains too were more than good: 244 points plus, up from the 1,284 recorded last Friday the 22nd  of November. The Wets with mixed feelings overall. Geopolitics: more than perplexed and dangerous. John Faraclas’ daily and weekly recaps:

The Capes lead the way with the BCI up 136 points surpassing the 3,000 point threshold clocking 3,131! The weekly gains too were more than excellent: 638 points plus – from 2,493. Of course one size’s good or bad performance doesn’t constitute a MERKET!

The Panamaxes were also on the rise; the BPI clinched 58 points and now reads 1,225… The weekly gains weren’t too bad either. The BPI was up 96 points – from 1,129.

The Supras’ BSI managed to gain nine points and now stands at 816; the weekly gains were 69 good points – from 747!

The Handies’ BHSI managed to gain just four points and now reads 504; the weekly gains were 11 points – from 494…

So all in all an upwards moving Dry Market but as said above: one size cannot constitute a Market!

The Wets still with mixed feelings; the last published BDTI (Dirties) and BCTI (Cleans) ended down; 16 point lost for the Dirties – now at 1,267  and 17 for the Cleans – now at 923 points respectively. The weekly though state in the Wets remained mixed with the Dirties down 29 points –n from 1,296 and the Cleans up 43 – from 880 points…

The WTI remained in the same levels; today clicked US$ 55.17. Last Friday same stood at US$ 57.77 down US$ 2.60; that’s good news!

The Geopolitical situation remains not just perplexed but more than explosive in all fronts:

Did I hear you say MIGRANTS? The hypocrisy continues from all sides involved; its one of the biggest scams Planet Ocean has ever witnessed!

The Faulty line from Gib to Afghanistan and from the Caucuses to the Horn of Africa with its ten plus flush points continues to produce more mess than one can imagine:

Catalonia in Spain; French social upturn with the Saturday “shows” of the Mouvement des gilets jaunes; the Italian Peninsular’s uncertainty particularly on the debt front; the West Balkans – add the devastating Albanian earthquake too; The East Med’s mess (Syrian affair, Kurds, Cyprus, Greece, Israel and the entire Middle Eastern issue); Iran,;Iraq; the entire Arabian Peninsular; The entire northern Africa situ with Libya still in a state of limbo; Turkey pestering everybody in the region, even down to Libya, and stirring up every single region for its own profiteering even using religion as an extra tool in tandem with provocations and blackmail…

The European Union still in a mess… Its politicians cannot get their act together even in minor issues and wonder how they can make Peace withstand in Eastern Mediterranean with Turkey’s continuous violations against two European Union States – Greece and Cyprus, both being European Union Member States. If president Erdogan and its backers don’t cool down, the third World War will begin any time from this region and make it a mess as we still have hypocrites amongst us. SHAME! The damage to humanity will be despicable and the end result beyond catastrophe and will lead to further terrorism…

The British elections on the 12th of December: a perplexed enigma with BREXIT hanging upon the British people like a Damocles Sword… Add today’s terrorists attack on London Bridge with two dead and three or so injured and the heat is on in London yet again. We will revert on Monday when more is known. Again we repeat our position for continuing having you on alert as per our last sentence of every daily report!

At the other side of the Atlantic things continue to be more than interesting with president Trump trying to sort out the accusations against him from the Democrats… Difficult issues ahead and the 2020 elections will be interesting what it may produce!

Central and South America continue to be messy: Venezuela, Colombia, Bolivia, Chile, Brazil, Argentina…

Africa MUST do to things: get rid as much as the Africans can of corruption and halt the proxy wars there by the major powers but to do this you need uncorrupted negotiators…

In the Far East Hong Kong’s fate remains to be seen… Very delicate situation there… Wonder what’s the  Chinese final reaction be…

Putin’s Russia continues its policy keeping active its president’s agenda…

The Trade Wars continue… and the World Debt remains at US$ 255 trillion…

The IMO week plus was more than interesting particularly the Awards earlier on in the week and the Elections results today. The receptions and parties brought people together with the main issue being the thorny case of IMO 2020 as of the 1st of January… Watch this space…

The London Shipping Law Centre 25th Anniversary which took place on the 27th of November at the Savoy Hotel remains the talk of the Square Mile and beyond…

What a timely IMIF / Maritime London seminar on “Sanctions and their impact on international trade and shipping” that was also on the 27th of November!

On another tone and note news coming from Athens tell us of a very successful 19th NAVIGATOR 2019 Forum at the Stavros Niarchos’ Cultural Centre. The Shipping Decision Makers Forum makes waves! Congratulations to the Bezantakos family and team, speakers, sponsors and supporters!

Don’t miss the finale of the 25th Anniversary of the Hellenic Centre with the two day events today and tomorrow; Katerina Polemi and her band promises a unique evening…

…and in Athens’ Grande Bretagne Hotel on Sunday the 1st of December, the traditional afternoon tea by the “Friends of the Chios village” (Φίλοι του Χιώτικου Χωριού); one of the biggest Ladies event of its kind in Greece!!

Coming up in London on Tuesday 3rd of December: the NATO summit. A must this time to clear its purpose as its behaviour not only affects Geopolitics but Shipping itself in its entirety!!!!

Have a nice evening and weekend and continue to remain on guard from actions emanating from Pirates, Terrorists, Criminals and Business Hooligans whatsoever wherever you are on Planet Ocean. Today was more than a Black Friday!
