The BDI@1,103:Contained losses but losses…

The BDI (Baltic Dry Index) lost 20 points earlier on today and now stands at 1,103 points. Contained losses but still losses marking the Festive Season and as we mentioned a few days ago we are back to square one! Geopolitics crucial with the Turkish aggression now all over and with projected despicable mess in Central and East Med – Libya, Cyprus and the Aegean… Add the Balkans hot spot and see what you get. John Faraclas’ brief recap:

The Capes’ loss was minimal; just four points lost with the BCI down to 1,954…

The Panamaxes lost 47 points and the BPI now stands at 1,154 points…

Fifteen points lost from the Supras’ BSI now at 728…

The Handies lost its 500 threshold with the BHSI now at 494 – an expected situ…

The gap widens yet again and we are 1,144 points apart from the level the BDI stood at the end of Dec 2013 (2,247 points). Never ever forget this!!! Moreover in comparison with last year (21/12/2018) the market is worse as the BDI stood at 1,279 points – 176 down!!!!! (1,279 – 1.103).-

The Wets with mixed feelings; the last published BDTI (Dirties) and BCTI (Cleans) stood at 1,580 minus nine and 952 – plus 26 points respectively…

The WTI as these lines are being written stood at US$ 60.63…

We all await the IMO 2020 to see who isn’t afraid of Virginia Woolf …err the 2020…

The Geopolitics will bring more than mess:

The MIGRANTS continue to be the leading as well as the burning odd issue… Don’t allow any more hotspots on the Greek Aegean Islands.

Turkey’s latest Libyan provocative actions will lead to yet another mess in the region and will have repercussions for all. Don’t be surprised to see Libya becoming yet another Iraq, Syria or Afghanistan… and also don’t be surprised to see Turkey becoming like former Yugoslavia…

Who can deal with the ISIS terrorists who “took” the arms again in Iraq and in Syria; smash them as well as their backers… end of the story!

Issues still hanging around on whether Boris Johnson will live with a deal with the EU or with a very messy BREXIT divorce so to speak…

At the other side of the Atlantic Democrats and Republicans still in a very messy melle and wonder what’s next with president Trump’s possible impeachment…

A bit … south in Central / South America things are getting sour and wonder how the entire region will be saved from yet another financial catastrophe… remain on guard. Poor Argentina; the Peronistas are still around…

Still not a deal on the Trade Wars with the USA and China still at loggerheads.

One stumbling block is the colossal debt on Planet Ocean which now stands at US$ 255 trillion… What can you do?

Let’s don’t forget NSW, Sydney in particular with the bush fires where the smoke is terrible! The air quality is very poor and visibility is low – it’s been this way for a month! Many people are leaving town just to get some fresh air. It’s really sad how much of the bush has burned. The amount of fires in NSW that are burning are equal in size to the state of California!

More news at the first update; until then remain on guard from actions emanating by  Pirates, Terrorists, Criminals and Business Hooligans whatsoever wherever you are on Planet Ocean!!
