Priority berthing for Indian Navy
The Gujarat Maritime Board has advised that requisition priority berthing with be granted to the Indian Navy at Porbandar’s GMB Jetty from 15 to 19 March.
Traffic may be affected as a result.

Collision in Sinki Fairway
At 1200 hrs (Singapore time) on 13 March 2013, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) received a report of a collision between an Antigua and Barbuda-registered container ship “BOSUN” and a harbourcraft SC3566E in Sinki Fairway about 7km southwest of Pasir Panjang Terminal.
There were 2 persons on board the harbourcraft, which sank following the collision. A passing vessel rendered immediate assistance. Of the 2 persons, 1 was pronounced dead while the other was sent to National University Hospital for medical attention.
MPA has issued navigational broadcasts to vessels in the vicinity to keep clear of the incident area. Port operations are unaffected.
MPA is investigating the incident and will review safety procedures in the port.

Submarine cable recovery
From 15 March to 30 April, submarine cable recovery operations will be conducted off Tanah Merah.
According to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore’s Port Marine Notice No.27 of 2013, the works will be carried out 24 hours daily – including Sundays & Public Holidays – on a route indicated by the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum):
AC1) 01° 18.602’N / 103° 58.703’E
AC2) 01° 18.442’N / 103° 59.312’E
AC3) 01° 18.372’N / 104° 00.100’E
AC4) 01° 16.915’N / 104° 02.478’E
1) 01° 16.875’N / 104° 02.591’E
2) 01° 16.959’N / 104° 02.404’E
3) 01° 18.433’N / 103° 59.359’E
4) 01° 18.624’N / 103° 58.691’E
5) 01° 18.651’N / 103° 58.682’E
The recovery of submarine cables will entail pre-trenching works, locating of “out-of service” cable crossings and recovery of cables. The works will be carried out by the cable laying barge “Asean Protector”.
The safety zone is a circular area with a radius of 150 metres centered at the location of the barge. A safety boat will be deployed in the vicinity to warn other craft to keep clear of the working radius.
Craft involved in the works will exhibit the appropriate local and international day and night signals.
When in the vicinity of the working area, mariners are reminded to:
(a) keep well clear and not to enter the working area;
(b) maintain a proper lookout;
(c) proceed at a safe speed & navigate with caution;
(d) maintain a listening watch on appropriate VHF Channel 12;
and
(e) communicate with East Control on VHF hannel 12 for assistance, if required.
